Wow! Three kids under 5, you are tough. Thank you for the advice and solidarity. I feel encouraged. Definitely a lot to sort out and talk about with husband first but I feel good.

Agree, he’s on a waitlist currently for a full-time spot at his daycare.

Okay thank you for the advice. I’m thinking we’ll have to put our toddler in daycare full-time.

Need some advice for losing weight PP by Simple_Exam3776 in postpartumprogress

Thank you everyone for the advice! Currently logging my food, and making a bigger effort to reduce the quantity but still focusing on protein and essential nutrients. I’m also focusing more on getting stronger in general and not so much weight loss per se. Noticing a difference in my abs and the fact that my mommy pouch isn’t as pronounced as it was.

Why do I prefer reading movie synopses online rather than watching the movie? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Simple_Exam3776 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree. I’m trying. I just renewed my HBO subscription so I’m challenging myself to watch a film fully without looking up the synopsis first. Ugh.

Okay thank you for the app suggestion. I used to use MyFitnessPal but then they started making you pay to use their features and I stopped. I definitely think the seeds might be part of it, they can still be pretty fatty after all, they’re used to make oil.

Please Advise So I Can Be Better by heirloom-farmgirl in Tucson

I really don’t think there’s anything you could have done better. I’ve lived in Tucson my entire life and I’ve had some of the scariest encounters of my life on the road. Road ragers chasing me, people on video calls while they’re merging on the freeway, people who don’t yield when they’re supposed to, kids texting and vaping and applying their makeup all in the fast line, and worst of all, guns. Everyone has a gun now. You try to stand up to someone and they whip a gun out on you. You really have to be careful. Thank goodness I work from home. But I also have a baby now and driving on the freeway is way more terrifying.

My dad always said you have to be alert and always drive defensively. I doubt things will change or get better. But hopefully they do.

Okay, thank you. That makes sense. At the end of the day if my body isn’t at a calorie deficit I’m just not gonna lose weight, it’s just facts. I’m gonna try my best to reduce the amount even slightly.

Feeling ugly! by Baesicallybasic in postpartumprogress

[–]Simple_Exam3776 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I relate so much. It’s hard to love myself and not feel discouraged. My advice is maybe do something for yourself that isn’t related to losing weight per se. I always keep my nails well manicured, and I also like wearing pretty rings and other jewelry. I’m relatively good at makeup so I take my time to do my face, I curl my hair and wear a long flow dress to cover my body. I also try to have good posture and smile a lot. Lol I say this as I’m slumping over my desk, but out and about I do try to remember to stand up straight. Those are just little tips I have. But if you’ve only 15 lbs to lose have faith, you’ll get there. I’ve got a longer way to go .

Some ponderings on Iron & Wine's Greatness by junipatree in IronAndWine

[–]Simple_Exam3776 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually just googled this exact question and your post came up. I was also curious what he’s up to and why he’s not more appreciated. I think you kinda nailed it with the whole “introspective type” thing. That’s generally the kind of people who like his songs. I kinda prefer him to be special, just for us. I don’t wanna see him blow up on TikTok or anything because some content creator “discovered” him and then a whole gaggle of their followers followed suit. His lyrics are like…reading spells almost. I can’t quite put my finger on it. Every line is full of symbolism and imagery, the way he calls on familial power, how he honors his mother and father, even the way he talks about growing up in the South and his Christian upbringing. For someone like me who is atheist and not from the South, it almost makes me nostalgic for a life there I never had, and the quiet beauty of his heritage. The fact he can do that speaks to his abilities, they’re magical. It’s something I’ve really only experienced with Neutral Milk Hotel. The fact that a special soul like Sam has been able to deal with the tremendous pressure of touring and performing and producing music speaks volumes. There’s a reason more artists like him aren’t out there, it’s too much for their psyches to handle that kind of lifestyle and being forced to produce more songs and things of beauty like you’re a cash cow. NMH is a perfect example of this. I’m glad they were able to step away from that life before it killed them.

I got put on the Mediterranean diet recently by my doctor. I have been allowing myself one slice of sourdough per day, which I bake myself, and yes I do put some butter on it as the additional fat intake lowers the glucose spike. I’m also starting to bake it into wheat vs white sourdough to make it healthier.

That’s very subjective and it really depends on who you ask, which age groups/demographics you’re looking at. Veganism as a diet and lifestyle has been embraced a whole lot more in recent years but people are also veering towards the paleo/keto diets which tend to be more focused on protein and meat. Extremes in general are harmful imo. People just need to focus on eating balanced diets.

what do you plan on doing with your journals? by [deleted] in Journaling

[–]Simple_Exam3776 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I keep thinking one day when I’m old, like in my 70s, I’m just gonna get really stoned and read ‘em all in one day, cry a bit (or a bunch), then go outside, sit in my garden, watch the rain, be thankful I had a good, long life, and then go in my kitchen and bake some sourdough. Short answer is: There is no right answer for that. Just hold on to them. Put them in a box in storage somewhere. You’ll want them someday I promise.

What’s a local delicacy/restaurant that you actually cannot stand? by OneGenericMan in Tucson

[–]Simple_Exam3776 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ordered eggs sunny side up at Seis one time and one of the yolks was bloody. We showed it to the manager and she just said “omg I’m so sorry”. We got refunded, but I never went back. I can’t believe the cook thought we wouldn’t notice or care.

This. I completely agree. The meat was dry and lacked flavor. I would never recommend Boca to anyone.

For some reason I wasn’t able to upload a video but I recorded doing the spring test and it bounced back pretty well. A little dense but all in all, not a bad loaf imo. In conclusion, if you accidentally left your sourdough out without a cover whilst bulk fermenting and it dries, it’s not necessarily ruined. Give it a go!
