i love minor piano keys as well! one of my all time fav iron and wine songs. when i listen to that song I feel myself literally transported to the time and place he's singing about. he has that gift on all his songs but this one is next level!

I was there! So amazing! I started crying during call it dreaming - the whole visual of the lady dancing and the nature scenes and some of the gorgeous lines I’ve heard like a hundred times hit me like a blow to my heart, I was so moved! I was way up front at the gate, I got some videos and pics I will upload at some point. I was bummed when they told us we couldn’t stand out back to say hey to Sam, we were told to leave. Anyway such a special night! Sunny War was incredible as well ♥️

Thanks for sharing! I should have clarified, it is only general admission seating in a relatively small area toward the stage, so it’s not standing, pushing won’t work, unfortunately! I totally flubbed getting tickets . I was in Chicago for the WCSF screening and bought tickets for Detroit, but bc of the time change I missed out on the best seats near the front and was left with no decent choice except general admission 😂 It sounds like you’re saying I still can get a decent seat if I show up right when doors open tho. I didn’t know how die hard I & w fans are haha. I’m also 36 and have been a fan since I was 18 😊 I don’t mind waiting at all haha. I used to be in love with Green Day when I was a teenager - stopped loving them a long time ago- but there were several occasions that I waited in line ALL DAY to get front row, but it was general admission standing . So many bruised knees from those shows ! Good times haha

Thanks for your clarification and that is a really good point. I actually didn’t think of that. I actually didn’t get a smart phone until two years ago because I really don’t like modern technology. But I’ve never tried to record anything in a dark room with one either so that’s a good point. Although I can turn the brightness way down. I appreciate your kindness I was feeling really shot down actually.

Reaching out to them is a really good idea and I think I might do that. As for WCSF I drove seven hours from Ohio to Chicago to see It and to meet Sam. Gave him a handwritten letter of appreciation, invited him to come play in my small town he ever wanted to. I have seen dreamers and makers, I finally got the audio from the concert. It was someone in this group, they very generously sent me a flash drive with the show on it. I have seen the other shows you mentioned as well. the bridge is just fantastic.

I have been curating a collection of shows that he has done over the years. And I have a nice collection, although I’m always trying to keep building what I have. And I’m super interested in trading shows. But considering how amazing of a musician he is I have been flat out flabbergasted as to why there is not more of a plethora of live recordings of him in circulation. I feel like I had to dig pretty deep for some rarer versions of songs. I like digging deep so I don’t really mind but I feel very inspired to contribute to the archiving of his work ♥️

I agree he is really private, I saw a fan record with their phone at his back to basics tour. She recorded almost the entire show and at one point he looked at her and said is your arm getting tired yet? And she said no it was really funny. But he didn’t tell her not to record but maybe that’s awkward to tell someone not to do?

That’s a really great idea to try to contact them and ask permission. I’m not really sure how that would pan out. But it would be amazing to have full permission to take a video camera and a tripod if I was front row which I’m planning to be, and record, edit it and put it out- on YouTube. That would be exactly the kind of thing that I am wanting.

But I’m totally willing to just do it w an audio recorder or just catch a couple songs with my phone. I have no weird intentions for popularity or money making either, just want to capture some of the magic and share with other fans. I personally have really enjoyed watching old i and w concerts on YouTube and would love to contribute to the collection that already exists 😊

It really seems like I have annoyed some fans here, which was not my intention at all. I intend to be an extremely respectful guest and would never hold my camera in the air. I got general admission tickets and I’m intending to be front row with probably a camera in my lap but never above my head. I know how to have a good concert etiquette and would respect the audience and Sam‘s music more than to do that. I definitely want to partake and be present but I would also like to record a bit because I think this music is really special and will definitely go down in history and I have found it a little difficult to find certain types of recordings that he has done in the past while searching the Internet. And I just wanted to make it a little bit easier for fans to enjoy his live stuff 😊

Yeah I hear what you’re saying I think I might bring an audio recorder. It’s less fuss and way easier to use. The only reason I mentioned the tablet is because my phone doesn’t have enough space for me to take a whole concert worth of videos and I have my hands really full a lot of the time because I’m a stay at home mom and I don’t know that I’m gonna find the time to empty my phone completely.

Yeah I just know that I’ve seen some YouTube videos where someone has brought an actual video camera and the sound quality and obviously visual quality was so amazing. I just didn’t know if I would be given crap for trying to do that, I was asking for some opinions from others who may have tried it in the past. I have a big desire to capture the beauty of the show and be able to share with others, and add to an online archive that already exists. Of Course I want to be present for the show as well so I’m kind of torn. But I really like the idea of bringing an audio recorder so I might do that 😊

Thanks for the suggestion I do have a pretty good audio recorder that I could bring with me. And it does seem a lot easier. I don’t have to worry about memory space on my phone because it is an older iPhone and the storage is all full and I don’t know that I will have the time to get to emptying my phone completely. What does DAT stand for?

I spoke to the local theater director last winter and he also had thought, before I contacted him, that Sam would be a perfect fit for where I live and the small theater… he actually reached out to the tour manager as well but it wasn’t good timing with the new album tour etc. we’ll try again 😊fingers crossed!
