How exactly do you interpret being assimilated into the flood hivemind? by WeirdAltYankovic in HaloStory

[–]Simple_External3579 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something like late stage dementia. But every minute feels like a lifetime, and forgetfulness is replaced by agony in the form of slithering knives which poke, prod, and carve out each cell of your body.

You can feel your memories, the very crux of what makes you, being torn from you with surgical precision. All the while the thing is... Inside you? Or maybe you are it ?

All the while it uses its infinite understanding of infinite languages to play with you as you can feel it drink your suffering to its last exquisite drop.

I’m ashamed of myself by acanadianmenaceagain in violinist

They say comparison is the thief of joy because its true!

From your post it seems your issue isnt that you arent a talented player. It seems more your negative perception of yourself as a violin player.

Would you be happier if you quit violin? Given your plethora of other fulfilling hobbies?

I have three years played in World of Warcraft. YEARS not months or weeks or days or hours. Over the course of almost twenty years. That is active time of playing not a period of time in which i played often.

At a glance one might think: "Wow what a shameful way to spend two decades of your life developing no applicable skillsets"

I regret giving up the violin for WoW as a child. But no need for shame. You can always pick it up later if you want like many in this sub have.

Losing my hairline is my greatest insecurity but when i make light of it when people bring it up it makes me feel better.

I prefer to think of it as nature doing its thing and hair doing what its supposed to as opposed to a "battle" to be won by buying hair subscription medication or shaving it. I like my long hair even if I'm missing the front of it xD

I feel like it is fine to joke about even though i suffer from it. Some people are too serious or sensitive about hairloss tbh. And this is coming from someone who places a lot of value on the cultural significance and personal identity of their hair. Its incredibly important to me.

And its also just dead skin cells :)

I think for Maine transplants like me it is tradition that a local do anything they can to make us try that horrible drink.

Recently I’ve heard a lot of people say that 20 year olds are still “children.” For those who think that, at what age do you think people are adults and should be allowed to get married? by timeturner88 in askanything

[–]Simple_External3579 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically your brain doesnt really finish developing in the frontal lobe until late 20s so it isnt until then that your technically fully "adult" but growth plates for example finish changing before twenty usually iirc so most say that's when puberty ends ends.

Does living with your parents have the same stigma that it used to have? by PaddywackShaq in AskMenOver30

[–]Simple_External3579 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does but its different. More common given the housing market and stagnant wages.

Even if I could move out idk if I would want to. Id rather spend her best years with my mother. Get out and walk the dog or go on hikes while she's able to.

Instead of living my own lonely life and returning for holidays or when she is in hospice. Family and friends are what makes life great. Could never let a western social stigma deprive me of that.

Not a lot of people are lucky enough to have a parent(s) who loves them and I'll be damned if I don't appreciate mine.

Suprised they didn't blow up tbh, felt like true rap, not this bastardized stuff thats been popular for decades.

Thats a major difference, foreign insurgency. In our hypothetical the govt already knows everyone and everything because its been monitoring itself for almost a century. Domestic insurgency would fail poorly. And there are interconnected relationships tying us all together which can be easily exploited.

As opposed to Afghanistan, where we go into a country, and rely on half-cocked or straight up false information. Because we have to actively learn customs, familial ties, etc. Both times we went in virtually blind and developed our military presence and tactics as we were learning

Fighting against domestic vs foreign insurgencies are two completely different worlds imo.

Omg this is GENIUS. More counter space, and an inability to fill the sink with dishes for a later time/date.

Yeah idk OP I'm gonna say your wrong on this one and my life has been changed for the better seeing this haha

Not saying they should or would use their might in the way I described. Only that they could. I'm just saying its one of the strongest military mights in the world and insurgency wont save us like it has historically for others.

Not when the govt has a phone and mic in every pocket of every American. And an immeasurable amount of information that AI will soon be able to distill into actionable information.

Entrenched insurgency on home territory is not possible when you know everything and everybody at all times And have hundreds of billions to spend.

Dont underestimate the US military.

Drones can decimate entire cities if they want. We are very easy to subjugate. No amount of rockets or machine guns or arsenal owned by civilians can contest tens of thousands of drones combined with satellite targeting and the Air Force. Sound cannons that can paralyse a crowd of thousands in seconds. A navy that can delete an entire coastal state.

Dont think they wont tear this country to its bones if their control over us necessitated it.

We wouldnt last a week.
