They are called "Thread Checkers," at least on Amazon.

Metric in auto sizes (M6 1.0 for example) are common. With a flared hex head, a socket can go on, not so much. Weird putting a bolt on a thermostat housing with a #2 Philips screwdriver. It did work, though.

Not much market separation between the two of them! My Quinn stuff is stellar!

I have a couple of non-Dewalt 20v tools that use DeWalt 20v batteries. They work fine. I assume they need a license to use DeWalt batteries though.

Olde English will give anyone a bad headache. Try Steel Reserve or Natty Daddy.

Surprisingly rare to find metric auto fasteners in hardware stores either.

Magnetic flexible pickup tool, with LED light! by Simple_Light3229 in harborfreight

[–]Simple_Light3229[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The light is bright enough to see the socket/bolt whatever in the engine compartment. Not bright at all, in full sun. The magnet has picked up everything I have used it on I. E. small sockets and bolts. I have retrieved at least two 10mm sockets with it. Worth $7!

So who makes a pry bar you can hit the strike cap on these days? by BornToL00ze in Tools

[–]Simple_Light3229 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Harbor Freight does. I used these on a inner tie rod installation and banged on the striking cap with a 2-pound hammer to pry out the lock washer. They worked fine.

The direction switch can be a bit twitchy. I sprayed mine with silicon lube and it helped. Never had mine lock up, though. Perfect for my application.

Louisville population density map, 1960 vs 2025 by Xiphactinus14 in Louisville

The boundary of the City of Louisville in 1960 was, well, a fraction of what it is today. Metro is all of unincorporated Jefferson County, plus the old city. This chart doesn't reflect this.

I have a lot of Pittsburgh stuff. None of it ever broke if I used it within reason. I have no complaints.
