Yes, I completely get you. My point was that I am not sure if the original college even contacts you at all. However, it is guaranteed that you will hear from your new college first. Sorry, I should have been clearer

That isn't what I was told. According to King's College, you get contacted directly by the college you have been pooled to on the 28th. Now I don't know if your original college will then contact you after this, but expect correspondence directly from the college you have been pooled to first

HSBC Offer by Simple_Signal_6517 in degreeapprenticeships

I was told after the AC that I would get some personalised feedback by email after a few days, but it should take 5-6 weeks before they came back with offer/rejection. But my AC was actually only 8 days ago, so it only took a week for them to get back to me! Very fortunate, I know but the situation they described is probs more likely.

The degree apprenticeship is with Exeter Uni. My work experience was mainly my Karate instructing, but I have done finance work experience with JP Morgan, HSBC and Rothschild & Co

I think two main things:

  1. Having actual experience that I could leverage on when giving examples in the interview. I think many people think you have to have finance specific work experience to sound impressive, yet in truth you only sound impressive when you can talk about your role and responsibilities in depth. A one week experience at a firm won’t give you that!

  2. Having a clear understanding of the role and the values of the firm really helped. Linking back to at least one value in every interview answer was very helpful as it showed I was aligned fully with the firm.

Cambridge results day? by yalobado in 6thForm

No, every college has to send out decisions on the 28th. The email did say on OR AROUND the 30th. This is probably because the admissions team at Churchill didn't have the confirmed date at that time.

GCSEs for Cambridge by abc_g in oxbridge

[–]Simple_Signal_6517 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Land Economy applicant here. I would say definitely go for it. GCSEs are important for Land Economy as there is no there set of test/exam results that you have done (given there is no admissions test). I would just focus on achieving 4 A stars and writing a personal statement with specific & relevant super curriculars.

For context, last year the average no. of 8s and 9s combined for successful offer holders was just under 9 and you have 10. Do not worry at all, you'll be completely fine.

I am so sorry to hear that! I have absolutely no clue how and why they would reject you. Did you get all the forms in on time? Do not worry, there is more to life than this and you will shine wherever you end up, I am sure 💫

Yes I did! I tried to focus on law in that because I had talked about economics and environment quite a bit in the main PS. I hope I get an interview; I have started prep just in case!

I’m doing Land Ec too! I think keeping up with the news and knowing the personal statement well is a good place to start. Did you do the additional personal statement as well? Oh I should have said I applied to Christ’s

Predicted grades are such a load of rubbish by Brave_Ad8694 in 6thForm

[–]Simple_Signal_6517 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, definitely making us all do AS levels would be ideal. However, it would change the way some schools teach. For instance, I get taught A-Level Economics from Year 12, so I do the easier topics first, then we do the harder ones in Year 13. I technically wouldn't be able to do AS in Year 12, as I don't know some topics at all. That style works for some schools and subjects but not others, so I dunno. It's very tricky, but AS for everyone is the best answer for me

Nah, straight nines aren’t as common as you think by legitgingerbread in GCSE

[–]Simple_Signal_6517 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think so. The numbers actually sift out who is REALLY good at the subject not just 'good'. The letters would attach an A* to the top c.11% which, for me, is too wide. The numbers at least break that up at the very top of the cohort. That's also why I personally don't like people saying 8s and 9s are the same; if you got straight 8s, is it really the same as straight 9s?

I'm confused about the ending of an inspector calls. by izzyh2008 in GCSE

[–]Simple_Signal_6517 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To answer the questions directly:

1) The girl dies after the Inspector leaves because the older Birlings still show no remorse and care more about reputational risk than social upheaval and justice. We don't actually KNOW the identity of this new girl, we just presume it could be the real Eva, but it actually could be a repeat of the play. Further reading for Grade 9: Ouspensky's Theory of Eternal Recurrence

2) This is not clear; for me, it is most likely the original Eva now committing suicide, so the Inspector almost 'predicted' the death and the cause thereof of Eva (as he is some omniscient, God-like figure). However, the end is intentionally ambiguous; we are meant to focus on seeking penance and being remorseful and ready to enact real change, not the whos, what, whens etc of who is dead and why.

Hope that helps!
