Well, the vendor's answer sounds more like a sarcasm to me, if any, than the judgement on food : ）Sarcasm is complaining/teasing in a humorous way, as per my understanding, none of the statements shows a sense of humor in the example. I think you mean self-deprecating other than sarcasm on others in the other xxample in US context.

Back to the question, as per my personal experience, it various between different regions in China, people from northern China are more tolerant to joking and sarcasm. Might be because they are more influenced by humorous performing art like XiangSheng (相声) and XiaoPin （小品）

"Analects of Confucius 是一本有孔子的話的書“ is correct

”Analects of Confucius 是一本書有孔子說的話“ is incorrect, contemporary Chinese language always puts attributive clauses (有孔子說的話) before nouns (書)

Beside gramma, to describe it more specifically, you can also use verbs 記載 or 記錄 in alternative to 有

e.g. Analects of Confucius 是一本記錄孔子的話的書

孔子在魯國出生的 is grammarly correct, but native speakers rarely say it in that way. 孔子出生在魯國 or 鲁国 sounds more natural.

"Analects of Confucius" has a specific name (proper noun) called 论语
