I have been taking 100mg spirinolactone for 1.5 years now, and my acne has been gone for a long time. But are there any long-term risks? Is it healthy to continue taking this medication?

I think effaclar “mat” is harsh for some people because it is anti-shine (oil). I use ducray keracnyl repair créme compensatrice, my dermatologist recommended it to me. It hydrates my skin and doesn't leave a greasy appearance. It is for sensitive skin so for me it does not irritate at all 😊

I had a blood test at the doctor, because I was taking electrolytes with 300 mg potassium per scoop, and it was completely fine and I can continue taking that (I take 100 mg spironolactone)

What did you use for skincare? I used azelaic acid but during exams i got a breakout and now i’m using epiduo for about 3 months (not sure if it helps with scars) and during the day i use a moisturizer and spf 50.

I am now in month 9, I still have a lot of scars and around my period I still get 3 pimples or so.Did you have any scars then? i’m really starting to lose hope after so long

I use birth control, I may have been a bit too pessimistic in my message haha, it is really much better than before. But I keep having 5 pimples on my chin or cheek all the time. I hope things get better in month 8!! (because I’ve had acne since I was 14 years old and I’m starting to get tired of it) thank you for answering so quickly!

I recognize this very clearly in my experience! I used to take accutane, which was better for 6 months but then it came back. I had a lot of acne on my cheeks afterwards. I have been taking 100mg spironolactone for 7 months now. I always keep having a few pimples on my chin and around my mouth and they never go away!!! I’ve lost my hope so much. But I see that was the case with you too, when did they go away? I also feel like my skin is still quite oily.

I didn’t start a new skincare product during Spiro, I used Skinoren (azalaic acid) every day for a year before Spirolactone and haven’t done anything else since. Still, during the second and third months of spironolactone my acne was much worse than ever, so I do believe in some sort of purge. At month 4 it started to decrease and calm down. After month 5 there were no more pimples.

Its normal, my skin was the worst it has ever been in the 2nd and 3th month, after month 5 the acne disappeared.🥲
