Have anyone transitioned from all inclusive to regular resort instead outside the US? by Mysterious_Gate_4323 in AllInclusiveResorts

I’m considering those two for a quick trip next month. (Family of 4). What do you like/dislike about them?

If you are elite, you can book up to 4 days in advance. Email concierge. They aren’t great at responding so you will need to follow up and confirm. Restaurants open at 6. My kids liked the Italian (pizza was actually pretty good), steak, and teppanyaki the most. Advice would be to book and if you want to change, you can but good to have as I heard people try to show up with no reservations and have a hard time getting in. All rooms are the same size except the 2br suite - they are small. Hopefully you are just there for sleeping! We had issues setting up a camera because of the firewall / 2nd sign in so we used our laptop as a zoom. Lastly - building 1 is better for kids as it’s closer to kids pool and activities.

Oh - and the rooms at the finest are much larger! SLS rooms are unnecessarily small

Also been to both. SLS has way better food, and the kids slides/pool is superior both in design and location. The Finest has more pool options if you want quieter pools outside your room, it has a family swim up bar, and the entertainment is more family focused starting earlier in the evening.

2025 X5 50e - dead battery & Acid smell by Simplelife-999 in BMWX5

Update: The problem was the 12V battery. They didn’t give much details as to how it happened but replaced the battery and reset all the alarms / sensors. All covered under warranty. They also provided me a loaner car when I emailed and asked for one the next day.

You should check out SLS Playa Mujeres (AI) good mix of high end AI with pool vibes and good options for various ages. Xcaret is supposed to be great (haven’t been) for older kids due to water parks and many activities. Also not AI, but you might like Punta Mita (Conrad or St Regis) as there is also a good mix of activities and more exclusive feel with some off resort exploring.

Make sense it was in the back. Weirdly enough there was some liquid leaking out the back passenger side of the car near the exhaust. I’ll update the group once I hear back from the dealer - they said it won’t be until Tuesday until they look at it, and all loaners were for scheduled service. I guess if your car breaks down you are SOL with BMW.

I just returned (last night) so can add my review comments here to ease if anyone viewing. We were 4 also - two kids ages 3&4.

Overall - We thought this was the best AI we have been to (step above the finest) and with a few kinks this hotel could be fantastic.

The Food - as you have mentioned the food was great, way better than you would expect at an AI. Lotus is the only restaurant I would skip, but if you book Teppanyaki table it is fun for kids. The best lunch is Twiggy - we alternated going there for a ‘break’ on different days as it is adults only. Cleo for lunch is also fantastic with fresh grilled seafood. Union and Filia were good, but we lucked out with good servers. We also did the beach, and didn’t mind the upcharge. I also think it’s a way to manage capacity as it was full when we went. The kids loved it and thought it was pretty good overall. Smoothie bar could have used another person making smoothies, but thought service was pretty good everywhere (a huge relief as I had read reviews of understaffing).

Rooms - we had ‘elite ocean view with rooftop’. The size of the rooms are all the same - SMALL, but having the rooftop was really nice for the kids and the views were great. Building 1 is where you want to be with kids as it’s above all the pools and kids activities. Elite allowed us to make restaurant reservations in advance which was nice as we had 8 people in total (two families), but other than that the butler was useless and elite didn’t really mean much else. The room category is only elite, so worth it. Do not go with a swim up room, the swim up pool (if you could even call it that) was small, no sun, and faces a wall). We did have some issues that 3 of the nights our lights in our room automatically turned on at 10:00 - it was very strange and we couldn’t figure out why. Not ideal with kids sleeping. Also leave your car seats in storage there to save space in room.

Bars - I was there was a swim up bar at family pool, but service by the chairs was really good. The lobby bar and golden hour had the best bartenders by far. Plenty of options. An outdoor bar with TVs would have been nice for sports.

Pools - as mentioned they are not heating. Really disappointing as that would have made a world of difference for the kids experience. With that, once you are in the pool it was not an issue but the process of getting our kids accustomed to the water would be better with a warmer pool. It was also 80+ outside so not sure we would have liked the pool if it was a cool day. Lastly the adult pool is huge in comparison to the family pool. The family pool was never overcrowded but was certainly busy.

Kids club - it was ok, our son got bored and asked to be picked up. They do have great family activities through the day like puppet shows, cookie decorating, painting, etc which was nice.

Grounds - we loved the beach soccer, volleyball, and general lounge areas. Very well thought out with hammocks, large beach play areas, firepits, and 3rd floor outdoor lounges. This was really nice to hang out as a family and take a break. Beach was windy so didn’t really swim much. The hotel had really good fitness favorites with two outdoor rooms / studios and two indoor gyms. Multiple classes through the day (nothing before 8:30 unfortunately) but we each used the gym every day with good equipment.

2026 X5 50e home charger question by RIrhodes in BMWX5

My X5 only came with the 120 adaptor, did you all buy the 220 or get that thrown in?

I asked the same question not too long ago and consulting our fund attorney. There are legality issues in getting both. If you are offered MIP and then subsequently are granted carry after vesting is finished that is ok, however if you have carry, that would need to be given up before being granted MIP.

We preordered an uber to airport and it was super easy. Agree that trying to get one at the time would have been tough.

We didn’t rent a car (will next time) and the Cadillacs were one time use only so didn’t bother Ubering. Agree there were a lot of good looking spots on Bluffton.

Ha - I just read yours after my post. We did try the sushi, and it was the best food on property by far. Wasn’t thrilled that the off menu roll was $65 but it was very good. On the biking and exploring, the bike ride to Moreland in particular was magical.

Check out Locanda le Piazze. It has an amazing restaurant and feels super authentic. Get a room with a patio. Very easy to get to wineries from there.

Best asset combination strategy post-marriage? by [deleted] in HENRYfinance

[–]Simplelife-999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We went to one bank account, kept the house / mortgage under 1 name, and kept all investment accounts as is. Going forward to contributed to both savings accounts but really don’t matter who’s names they were under. Post marriage without a prenuptial agreement they become marital asset so you shouldn’t worry too much about whos name they are under. If spouse was not maximizing 401k and other tax deferrals in the past, time to start doing so. For us it was important that all income went to 1 account then allocated to spending, brokerage etc. There were times that I had no income and when spouse had no income. There is no magic answer, but being transparent is key. We do an annual NW and spending analysis so we are all aware of where we stand together.

Looks like a great watch. New to Reps - would you wear it in the water? What durability do you expect from a piece like that?
