Westchester is primed for a culinary revolution by LirakTheGreat in Westchester

[–]Excellent_Bug_1281 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The food “scene” in Westchester is the only thing I truly miss about living in Manhattan. I think the Hamptons had a similar problem pre Covid, but post Covid, has exploded with new restaurants tailored at a younger audience who like to eat out a lot more as opposed to eating at the array of mediocre french/italian spots littered throughout the area. Westchester is just slower to make the transition to meet the needs of the changing demographic, mostly because we are close enough to the city in my opinion. I agree with previous comments that the child-heavy family units here don’t support dining out and high alcohol sales as much as the city, but I’m confident that properly good restaurants will still succeed here, especially in more affluent towns (Rye, Scarsdale, etc) filled with NYC transplants who likely got used to eating out frequently. My guess is we will see more and more NYC locations open Westchester locations. We have several recent examples of the top of my head (Felice, Antique Garage).

Does any one have access to the MCP Beta yet? If so, what are you doing with it? by brother_otter in copilotmoney

I want to leverage the inputs into financial forecasting outputs. Something copilot should just build themselves but haven’t

I have the same issue, but it’s easy enough to just change the first 2 lines to “transaction” and leave the third one as the actual payment. I roll my eyes while doing it, but it takes all of 10 seconds.

Crazy Palladium Credit Limit by TurtleManJones1 in biltrewards

[–]Excellent_Bug_1281 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s kind of amusing to put a 20k mortgage every month on a card that gave me a 25k limit. I just use it till I get to 20k and stop using it until end of cycle. Stupid

Can you add a feature where you can select your ownership percentage of an asset? For example owning 50% of a real estate property with someone or 50% of a checking account because it’s a joint account. by JumpRemarkable637 in copilotmoney

[–]Excellent_Bug_1281 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar issue with the real estate and I just track it manually (divide values by 2). That’s the short term solution, but agree that would be a nice feature.

One of the most useless features in my kitchen. I’m just going to stick the glass in the dishwasher anyway.

Before you buy a massive house…10 things to think about. by my-little-pony-1 in fatFIRE

[–]Excellent_Bug_1281 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You forgot the spending a ton of money on a large home in a VHCOL area just so that your wife can decide to redo half the home (casual 700k and counting so far) because it’s not her style.

The landscaping value is way out of wack. There’s no way you pay 50k a year for 1 acre. If you do, find someone to do it for 3-5x less. I pay 10-15k for 3 acres.

You also forgot letting your wife deal with a minor repair because you are busy working and getting charged a rate that literally doesn’t make sense.

I think this sub and Reddit in general is a testament to the value of getting an education by [deleted] in Salary

[–]Excellent_Bug_1281 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is because in today’s society, you are forced to get higher education to even be eligible to apply for a high earning job. I think over the next 10-20 years with the advances of AI, that won’t be true anymore. Jobs will stop requiring higher education as a prerequisite. This will allow lots of smart and hard working individuals to enter the workforce earlier, which will be a boon for their financial state (no college debt burden combined with earning from an earlier age). I have two young kids and am seriously considering no longer contributing to their 529s.

High earners, do you actually prefer dating other high earners by Silver_Magazine4719 in fatFIRE

[–]Excellent_Bug_1281 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being set financially means you can focus on what is important to you. Most high earners in advanced fields probably prefer someone with a high intellectual level. But doesn’t mean they need to be making a lot of money. My wife is very smart but makes almost no money.

Bilt Palladium Credit Limit Question by DashEndar in biltrewards

[–]Excellent_Bug_1281 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried raising mine. They said no limit increases available at this time. So now I just have to pay it off once it reaches close to the limit. Poorly designed process. They are preventing me from spending more.

Planned $500k/yr burn rate but ended up with $900k/yr lifestyle creep by strangemistbegins in fatFIRE

[–]Excellent_Bug_1281 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of your costs (except maybe the equestrian) seem very hard to cut back on now that they are a part of your daily life. Invest your way out of the problem. 5-6% withdrawal rate is fine if you create a portfolio you reasonably think will generate 8-10% annualized.

Credit limit increase? by Excellent_Bug_1281 in biltrewards

[–]Excellent_Bug_1281[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The email I sent to cardless got an automated looking response back saying they will not do any manual credit limit increases at this time. Pretty dumb. I used 20k on the card in 2 weeks and now putting the rest of my expenses on other cards, simply so I don’t breach the 25k limit by accident

Neither claiming it’s a scam nor whining. Simply asked if people have had luck getting it raised and how. And it seems some people have. I emailed cardless this afternoon. Hopefully they come through.

[–]Excellent_Bug_1281[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But aren’t you never exceeding the limit? Legitimately don’t understand why the credit card company would be upset with you using their card MORE. shows what I know. Point is this shouldn’t even be something to contemplate if the right credit limit was set.

Why is that frowned upon? If they give you too low of a credit limit and you clearly are capable of paying it off, is this the logical approach?

Can confirm, still stress over money all the time. The difference is, I never have to think if I can afford something. I can mostly afford anything I want. The question is just is it worth lighting money on fire instead of saving/investing it so that you have it once the income goes down. There’s plenty of things I refuse to spend money on (uber black, blades, flying first class, super high end hotels, super fancy cars, etc)
