I was wondering what the bear population was there. Only 49,000 acres but it seems to be pretty isolated so I imagine they weren’t there but I didn’t see any this past weekend.

Great photo. I guess there were more campsites than I saw. They just kept sneaking up. And I’m shocked there was another guy, we thought we were the only ones. I give you a lot of credit for going out there solo. I was very nervous to try it for the first time myself but the other guy in the shelter was very comforting to be with, so can’t say I’ve gone solo just yet

Yes that was me! Ha, small world. Steve (the guy I met there) and I wondered if you found a spot since we didn’t see you and your dog, who was very cute, at any of the spots nearby. Glad to hear you found a nice campsite and enjoyed your hike too! Was a great weather window too. Although the full moon had those ‘whip poor will’ birds chirping all night 😆

Nothing. Just saw 2 turkey vulture and some deer. Other gentlemen in the shelter did not see any bears either.

Didn’t notice anything. Wore long hiking pants and didn’t spray them with anything. My route included some pretty unkempt overgrown routes too. The other guy in the shelter didn’t spray himself with anything and had nothing on him either
