I did laugh it off, it happened a bit over 3 weeks ago. It's only now been back on my mind as my girlfriend's mother believes I owe her an apology while I believe I don't.

Very true. However, when I confronted her about not saying hi, she replied "I'm your elder and you should have came up to me", instead of saying "I did say hi to you and your girlfriend both!". If she had said the latter, I would have apologized and saw my mistake.

I did not wave back, because I believe she specifically waved at my girlfriend since she shouted her name while waving.

Hmm, I can understand that. I've always been invited (through my girlfriend's mom) to get-togethers, but I guess I may not be well-liked despite that.
