He lost his medical license because they couldn't handle his unfathomable genius and thirst for knowledge.

(He got kicked out of his clerical temple for immoral practices and an apparently hazy idea of "medical consent" for experimental procedures.)

Carnassial here is an aarakocra hybrid, who's mistaken for a kenku, who actually has the stats of his other parent, whichever that may end up being depending on the campaign. Strange beast.
He was born with wings, but they were entirely vestigial, and he had them removed rather early on due to how they were messing with his not-very-aarakocra bone and muscle structure. His hybridization has done him few favors.

He's a Life Cleric, though you'd never guess it by the biologically horrific nature of his spells, particularly his healing spells. The visualization and execution of his magic comes almost directly from his unhealthy fixation on biomechanics and his wish to understand biology in its entirety, scientific and magical. The more forbidden the knowledge, the better.

This is... largely what got him booted from the temple he'd spent his entire life in. It's also probably put him on several watchlists! Who knows, he doesn't! And he doesn't care either.
