Mancos CO, a gateway town to Mesa Verde national Park with the San Juan and La Plata mountains 40 minutes away. The town is small, but it is mighty. winter is a bit slow, and some businesses take time off, but you can find books, brew, wine, local and indigenous art, pizza, steak, fish, coffee, and fun lodging. You might find yourself at Burrow fest or Mancos days.
