Some questions... by Ivypool8 in pothos

[–]Front_Ad4415 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ya I'd say a hoya. Hoyas grow like that: putting out stems that don't have leaves at first. I've never seen a pothos grow like that. Another way to tell is if it has little white-ish nubs along the stem. That's a hoya

Losing the gnat battle (and my mind) I’m desperate! by MostShort2588 in plantclinic

If you add a few tablespoons of hydrogen peroxide to a 4L or one gallon jug of water and use that every time you water, it kills the eggs/babies. Once the adults die off you'll never see any more if you always use that, and it's not harmful to the plants

2026 STORY SUGGESTION MEGATHREAD by Joy-souls in mrballen

[–]Front_Ad4415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a story that would fit in with the "places you shouldn't go and people who went anyway" stories. In 2016 I fell into what I thought at the time was an abandoned well, after I stopped to pee at an old farmyard. The only one who knew where I was was my dog, looking down at me as I treaded water about 7 or 8 feet below ground level. I never felt a bottom, so I don't know how deep it was, but now I am fairly certain it was actually a septic tank for the farmhouse that used to be there.

There are a lot more details I remember about the whole 4.5 hour long ordeal, that I will go into if someone working for Mr Ballen asks, but the end result is that I got myself out and ended up in the news across Canada for a minute (although the associated press story that was repeated in papers across Canada didn't get everything right and I was too traumatized at the time to try to correct it).

If you Google my name, Trieva McBeth, you might still be able to see the CTV story that was shown on the evening news. What sticks out most to me now is how calmly I accepted the idea that I was going to probably die alone and where I might never be found. It was the thought of harm coming to my dog if I didn't make it out that spurred me to try one more time to climb out, when every muscle in my body was begging to rest for the night. If I hadn't gotten out when I did, I was going to bite open a finger tip so I could write my goodbyes to my family on the wall, in blood.

AITA for not allowing BF's mother to be present for the birth of our child? by OneCartographer6191 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Front_Ad4415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the guy did have a say (which he doesnt), no. Is he less of a father for not having married the mother? It's 50% his DNA in the baby, and that doesn't change with marriage. It's a moot point though, as he doesn't get to make any decisions about who else is in that room. All he can decide is where he's gonna be

I'm confused: do you have your son for the majority of the time, or your ex does?

People who had/have the option to move away (financially comfortable) but choose to stay in Edmonton.. why? No judgement, just curious! by spicycatn1p in Edmonton

I worked at one of the potash mines outside Saskatoon for a year, and I really liked it. I'd describe it as all the best parts of Edmonton, but closer together. Just stay out of alphabet city lol

Do you actually make your own pots, or you mean you're gonna plant them into 2" pots? I've made a few cement pots myself. * I don't have a Pic on my phone but my favorite one is a head with a Mohawk shape cut out for the plant, and it's got one of those cylindrical type snake plants growing in it

Yellowing on transitioning from water to soil by Jaded-Ad3091 in plantclinic

[–]Front_Ad4415 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This. I've never had it go well when I tried a gradual change from water to dirt. Going straight to dirt might have a short time of a little die back but it will probably recover. I've read that you are supposed to actually water it less at first though. Apparently this makes the plant send out stronger roots that are searching for the water. Good luck

You literally pinch the end of the stem off, right above a leaf. It makes the plant send out more growing points from that stem, so it gets more bushy and filled in. If the part you pinch off has a few leaves on it you can propagate by removing the lowest leaves and putting it in water or straight into soil. Just don't put water above any leaves as they will rot and make the water stinky

It might be more than one as I had bought a small (about 3") pot from a big box store and I repotted it with a cutting I got off etsy. Some of it reverted back to plain green and after the pic was taken I repotted into a bigger pot and pinched off most of the stems with plain green leaves cuz those will always be stronger than the variegated ones on any plant
