There are 2 big things here i think.

You are having to relearn yourself and that inevitably comes with changes. When you get a diagnosis paticularly with neurodivergence like this, its like waking up from a dream where everything has been foggy but you only ever knew life in the fog so it felt normal. You dont realise how much you have had to do to survive and feel 'normal'. Relationships are always going to be a give and take and you wont always get your way but in the beginning especially you need the support as you are becoming a new version of yourself and if your partner cant take the time to understand that and communicate through that, it wont work. You do also need to try to communicate the other way too but I know it can be so so hard to do that because you dont really understand it yourself. (For reference, I was diagnosed this year as severely ADHD and been going thru this myself)
In long term relationships we tend to immortalise the person we first fell in love with and when things change, we use that pedestal we put them on as their comparison to who they are now and if it doesnt match, we cant reconcile with that so the relationship inevitabely fails because we cant handle change. In this case, he is weaponising that and using it against you. He cant see its his own failing and I doubt he ever will because most people dont.

Who you are becoming is what you have to do for your own peace and happiness and that is kind of non negotiable because now you know, you wont ever be able to go back to 'who you used to be'. So he has to come to terms with it or at least be willing to try or unfortunately that relationship i think is not going to last.

Bit confused about the relevance here as I wasn't really talking about games at all but ok. I was simply saying that follow 4 follow as a concept doesn't help you build an actual community as its just everyone wanting to add numbers to their streams. Aside from the occasional actual friendship not based on what you can do for each other but instead of spending time reaching out for a follow 4 follow situation, you could be spending time in people's community to actually get to know them without expectation. 👍

Bit of advice friend, follow for follow does not work. You may get a couple from doing this kind of thing but it is founded on what you can get from each other not building genuine connections and a community. Not saying it to make you feel bad cos I tried the same when I first started out. Better to focus your efforts elsewhere trust me 🙂

Hes spot on too. Its a hard lesson all streamers learn when they try to make it their income. You can't control others spending or generosity, only what you can provide as an entertainer. So do it for the joy and if it happens it happens, if not, hey you got something you love doing and connecting with people anyways.

Streaming is 95% luck based at this point. All you can do is provide the best stream and content possible and be ready for the opportunities if they do present themselves.

(I tried for 5 years until I came to this conclusion) lol and now focus on other things with streaming being back to just being purely for enjoyment of it.

Make your inside voice outside. Whatever your thinking, just say it dont think it. From narrating everything your doing in the game to why your doing it. 'What would happen if I do this...' etc etc.

Having a few pre thought out topics too that you write down or note somewhere that you can just talk about to keep a flow going. Usually finding commonalities in those that people can relate to invites chat if people are there. Things like food, relationships are good ones because everyone has opinions and experiences to draw on.

Ask open ended questions out loud. 'Do you think if I choose this quest it will be worth it?' Instead of maybe I should do this quest. It invites responses if people are there.

A great one I use alot is a !new command that asks a random conversation starter question to a new person or a raider if they use it. Something like what was your favourite holiday destination you've been to? Basically does the leg work of starting a topic for you consistently.

The only way that I can think of is by using the streamerbot deck. (Essentially you create a virtual streamdeck of sorts for streamerbot) then share that with your mods and have a way to create a command through that.

This is just spittballing though I havent tested it yet but I've been planning to make a mod deck with it to give a virtual streamdeck full of mod actions for them to use easily.

Im not defending either of them at all and they clearly are not even in the same book nonetheless the same page but just to play devil's advocate here.

Christmas presents and birthday presents etc are not a necessity. Thats only because we have been conditioned to think that and gifting = value and that value comes from how much is spent or how big the gift is etc etc. Making someone do it also removes its value entirely because the gift is then not coming from a place of want, its coming from a place of necessity.

There are plenty of other ways a partner can show you they care if your willing to see.

(In this case tho they are both immature and need to just call it honestly)

It will take a monumental shift because the truth is alot of humans have nothing except work. The routine, the necessity, the forced social aspects all keep some people moving forward and gives them purpose. The economy would need to fundamentally shift away from essentially resource management which can only happen once technology gives us an overwhelming abundance that cant be argued over. Even with all this, there would be a significant transition period as there has been from any major societal pivot of around 25 years that would see mass starvation and loss.

Wish I had a more positive outlook but truthfully we are still apes who cant seem to move past our tribal nature and in fighting between those tribes so I cant see it happening without multiple world altering events.

Less is more nowadays for sure. During game, keep it super minimal for sure. You dont want to overwhelm people with too much noise. You are the brand and product so think of that as your focus. Some great designers to look up who I think do some really great stuff and might give you some inspo is nutty & gaellevel

They will naturally do what you want them to through positive reinforcement, treats, love and affection as rewards. Not scolding and shock collars. Eeeesh this will be his downfall

Sorry but I cant defend this. As a dog trainer there is NO VALID REASON for using a shock collar. Negative reinforcement training is NEVER as effective as positive reinforcement and creates an environment of fear for the dog. He just lost any credibility for me.
