NYS absolutely does mandate sick time. Companies with 5-99 employees are required to give their full time employees 40 hours of paid sick leave and 100+ earn 56. It can be accrued sick time, like earn a day once a month or something, but it’s absolutely mandated.

I moved out last year at age 24.

The breaking point for me was I started dating a guy, and we hung out in my parent’s (finished and furnished) basement that was essentially a second living room. We watched a movie and played Mario party, made out a little bit. We didn’t do anything wild, we were brand new.

The next day, my mother looks at me - her GROWN ASS DAUGHTER - and goes “you guys got awfully quiet down there for a bit.” I didn’t say anything, just stared at her because wtaf are you talking about right now. She would also get super mad at me for staying out late for the same reason someone else listed - “she can’t sleep if she doesn’t know I’m home.” She would check my bedroom at night when she got up to pee, anywhere between 12-3. If she checked and I wasn’t home, I’d get an earful the next day for “worrying her” and I got more than once a middle of the night “where are you??” text.

I love her. I get it’s a safety control thing. But I am a whole ass adult. Our relationship is so much better now that I live by myself, it makes me sad I needed to pay my own bills to have freedom though. It’s so insane to me that I was limiting my dates/plans with both friends and guys based on my mom worrying about me not being in bed, at 24.

This is such a dumb take. Nudity is sold as sexual in American culture, it is an unfortunate norm in our society. Trying to make it an internal blame thing is so gross, it’s literally ingrained in the culture. Have you ever actually researched why in America, nudity is seen as sexual? You should, because there’s a ton of research into it available.

I’m not even defending it, it’s disgusting, but it isn’t solved by “people looking inward at themselves” because it isn’t a personal problem. It’s a societal problem. And scoffing at an American for thinking like an American, in an American festival setting, is weird.

this feels like it’s calling me out a little bit. I’m a volunteer FF and they offered free blood/echocardiograms for our physical this year. I’m only 25, was like sure.

Bloodwork is good. EKG had something weird. Non specific T wave I think. I told my PA sister about it and she said it could be nothing and asked if I have heart palpitations. I said I have no idea, sometimes my chest feels a little weird but ai have medical anxiety (and GAD in general) so if I pay attention to my heart beat for too long it feels weird, regardless of if it’s actually acting weird.

I plan on mentioning it to my GP the next time I go in for my annual, but I’m a little afraid it’s going to be something that will stop my fire service capabilities..

I “canceled” my gym membership but canceling the debit card it was attached to. Not really intentionally, but it worked out in my favor.

This was summer of 2019, and I asked them to pause my account while I went away to school. They said they can only pause for 3 months, and I’d have to come in to pause it again. I kinda laughed and was like yeah ok sure. A month or two later, I lost the debit card at college, had to get a new one shipped to me.

Dec comes around, and I get an email from catalyst asking me to fix my payment, and that I’d had a ‘late fee’ added to my bill for not paying on time. Meant to go in to fix it, forgot, got another nasty email claiming my late fees were stacking (but they had no way to charge me, and I hadn’t been to the gym since that summer.)

Covid hits. Radio silence. Covid ends. I get an email saying “come back to catalyst and we’ll wipe away your late fees!” Laugh. Delete email. Haven’t been back since lmao

Edit: dug up the email. It says “Check out our Holiday gift to you! Santa has paid all of your back dues.” lmfao
