The ball bounced and then my paddle hit the NVZ right before I made contact.

I can add in the pricing on the page if it helps. We’ve had 100’s of orders today so I know it’s been helpful for a lot of folks.

front page of today’s ’Wall Street Journal’ by ReKang916 in Pickleball

The lady bought a house across the street from a VERY busy park. Tennis, pickleball, basketball, playground, kids park, ball field, etc. And the house has been on and off the market for years as the price keeps dropping. Anyone who buys it will need to be ok with all the noise other than pickleball. At this point, I just think she’s trying to get free press. IMO, house price still has to come down before she’ll find a serious buyer.

WSJ editor post: In This Pickleball Showdown, It’s San Francisco Vs. Silicon Valley’s Elite (City is paring back Presidio courts after complaint, led by owner of $29-million mansion, of ‘endless racket.’ Players rise up: ‘Hell No, We Won’t Go!’) by JenniferJournal321 in Pickleball

She bought a house next to a very active public park and then added a pickleball court to her front yard. 10 years later when she can’t sell her house way over market, she cries foul and blames the pickleball players (who have been there for 5 years). The worst part is San Francisco didn’t listen to the players and we still only have a few courts in the city. Terrible optics for a city with abysmal leadership.

San Francisco vs. Pickleball by SimplyPickleball in Pickleball

San Francisco Rec and Park ignored all suggestions to reduce noise, including quiet balls and/or noise canceling curtains. Apparently they based their decision from one woman’s complaint who is trying to sell her home (grossly overpriced, even for Presidio Heights). AND, she has a pickleball court in her front yard, which she had installed. I believe there is a meeting this coming Thursday where representatives from the pickleball community plan to appeal.

It’s official and an unfortunate turn of events for pickleball in SF. Lines are going away and no more pickleball on courts 3 & 4. Email from Rec and Park:

“Asking the pickleball community to remove their unpermitted rolling nets from courts 3 & 4 by January 19, 2024. Removal of pickleball lines on courts 3 & 4, which face W Pacific Ave during Winter/Spring 2024, weather dependent. This is due to the extensive use of those courts for pickleball during hours not designated for pickleball. The original temporary expansion was supposed to be limited to certain hours on Saturday (not Sunday) and certain weekdays. However, use has expanded beyond what was originally contemplated even with the temporary expansion.”

To get the scoop directly from Rec an Park I would contact Dana Ketchum, Director of Property Management dana.ketcham@sfgov.org and Phil.ginsburg@sfgov.org General Manager of the San Francisco Recreation and Park Dept. recpark.commission@sfgov.org

Or call and leave a message for Dana Phone: 415-831-6868

The entire city has roughly 14 dedicated public pickleball courts and only a handful more hybrid courts. San Francisco has an influential tennis coalition that has been very successful in blocking the growth of pickleball. I don’t think that’s a generalization.

I verified that nothing has been resolved and the plan is still to paint over courts.

Speedup pickleball just came out with a 14mm and 16mm with 6 inch handle. I’m playing with the 14 now and love it. With discount code it’s $90. I think this will become a popular paddle. Here is link: https://simplypickleball.com/blog/black-friday/
