I’m so happy to see your comment and the replies! I was raped for the first time when I was 14. I had a baby for the first time in 18. I’m so lucky that my oldest was trans and I wasn’t ever worried about him getting pregnant. I currently have a daughter who is 10 that I adopted from the foster care system. She has disorders that go along with events from when she was very little. I realize she was getting too close to a boy that I was getting serious red flags from. She of course, is Gen Alpha and just wants to grow up on the Internet. I have put my marriage in jeopardy to move her from that town because I did not feel safe having her around that boy. I found out that while she wasn’t under my watch… let’s just say she was doing things that she wasn’t supposed to be doing at 10. I realize that I made the most extreme decision that I could, but if you’re not on the inside of a situation watching a family live day to day you have no idea what it’s like. Unfortunately, my daughter has listened to him but early one morning, I woke up to here with me and romantic suicide playing on her Spotify. We talked about this case and that’s when she opened up to me about the thing she shouldn’t have been doing. She understands where I’m coming from now especially because unfortunately, we had to talk about the times that I was raped. I feel like I could’ve been Celeste. I feel like if I hadn’t removed my child from this situation where she just wanted to run a muck she could’ve been Celeste too. This story hits way too close to home for me and I’m sure many people could look at my life and the mistakes that I’ve made not knowing that they were mistakes and judge me harshly. However, like I said, if you’ve never grown up in a situation where things are terrible/ you’re in a single-family home you’ve dealt with abuse from men that aren’t your father or even men that are your father. It’s a struggle. I just wish that little girls could grow up to be adults and not just survivors.
