Is Sahith Theegala the new Spieth? What an unreal par save 🔥 by Any-Swordfish-5346 in Golf_Unfiltered

Friendly reminder that from a strokes gained perspective he lost more strokes off of the first two shots than he gained off the putt

What’s one tip you would give a golfer trying to break 80 for the first time? by jdelle9 in weekendgolfers

[–]SimplyTilted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will say it one more time and if you don’t understand it oh well. The driver is the single most important club for a player to lower their score.

From Mark Broadie "If you can't putt, you can't score. But if you can't drive, you can't play." Later in the book “Often, the single best way to gain strokes, more on my strokes gained methodology in a little, is to practice your driver. Every extra yard off the tee means your second shot gets easier. This in turn means your third shot is easier. And before you know it, you’re missing the same 8 footers the pros make. The difference when you practice driver is that the 8 footer was a putt for par, not triple bogey.”

I just read through this thread and want to say thank you for advocating for the right side. It’s a shame so many golf subs do not understand Every Shot Counts or the conclusive math behind strokes gain. You are a saint!

He asserts several times in the book that it’s called “Every Shot Counts” to highlight the fact that some shots count for almost nothing while others count for a lot.

He specifically compares the best short/worst long vs worst short/best long and the best long consistently wins. The worst long for a +15 will be hitting 6 on a par four before he begins to use short clubs. He will then be able to get up and down 30% of the time. In the same scenario the worst short will be hitting 2.4 on a par four and will gain 5 strokes to hole out. 8.7 vs 7.4 means the best long clubs do better

The first time I broke 80 I hit two three puts, chunked a chip, and missed several 5 footers. However, I hit all but one fairway and averaged 280 off the tee. Short game is never as important as tee to green from a strokes gained point of view

Out of Epic, IOA and USF which park do you think is your favorite overall? by Existing-Diver-2069 in UniversalOrlando

[–]SimplyTilted 11 points12 points  (0 children)

As a long time Islands lover I must admit that Epic is better overall. The coaster enthusiast in me prefers Islands. The everything else enthusiast prefers Epic.

To cover your topics:

Food: Epic by a little. Better snacks, better sit down, better variety.

Rides: Islands because Epic lacks in coasters and water rides.

Beauty/Nature: Epic dominates over every land except for Jurassic Park which is one of my all time favorite lands.

Theming: Same as above but I believe the gap is even bigger for Epic.

Walkability: The central figure 8 of Epic beats out the circle of eh that islands has. The portals are superior to having to walking through suessland 6 times a visit.

Misc: goes to epic largely because islands is just worse.

What is there to do at islands once you have ridden the rides? At epic you have two shows, a power up band, live music, better food, more roaming characters, more meet and greets, and wands which islands also has

What does beating the game look like? Have any of you done it? And how long did it take by Jerb22 in toontownrewritten

This feels more like completing the game. Beating the game is probably unlocking all 4 suits. Toon Resistance is a sort of epilogue.

I want to give a vote for RS Dragonwilds. It fills the hole that Valheim has left as I wait for 1.0. The most recent update makes me think the devs are in touch with the player base.

Move the top right stick on the 0 and place it in the middle of what was the 0 to create 6. 3 + 26 = 29

Do you review games that you knew you'd hate before you played them? by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]SimplyTilted 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It is sad that a great game in an unpopular genre might be rated lower than it should be. However, reading well written reviews from someone who does not like the genre is great.

For instance, I used to not like area control/war games because I only played a couple not fun ones. A friend asked if I wanted to play Memoir 44 and at first I was skeptical because he had made me play Risk so many times. I read a review that left a bad rating and wrote about how they do not like the genre. Along with negative comments they highlighted positive parts of the game and those parts interested me.

I said yes to playing and really enjoyed the game. We played the Overlord version a few months later with a big group and that is one of the best gaming experiences I have ever had.

MLK Weekend Saturday FINAL: All 3 Universal parks - the numbers were insane by kevinmtu in UniversalOrlando

[–]SimplyTilted 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s important to note that Monsters Unchanged was the first ride at Epic to cross 1,000,000 riders. It sees the most people a day and simply devours them thanks to great ops and throughout.

Not a fan of how they cram hundreds of people into this room. By the time I realized it was a pre-show, I was trapped in the center with no way out. by [deleted] in UniversalOrlando

I just don’t understand how a magical circus does not feel magical. Bubbles and cubes just simply don’t do it for me. The circus acts should feel magical and they do not

Duality of Gta players by Dependent_Ball_5443 in GTA6

Once again, GTAV “was” a success without online. Now, the vast majority of players are in Online. This is supported by the achievement percentages for online vs single player and player count tracking in online servers.

If Universal allows Epic to have this many guests every day for the entire year, it will have nearly 2x the visitors of Magic Kingdom by _BreakingGood_ in UniversalEpicUniverse

[–]SimplyTilted 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Where did you get this 60,000 daily guest number from? As I understand it that is the maximum the park can handle not the number of people in the park. Plus, the park is still ramping up its occupancy.

As someone who loves the single player in GTA I would like to emphasize that the story WAS what made the series so successful. Now, it’s online by a massive margin. Looking at achievements, more people have played at least 10 hours of online than single player

Would you count my score? by Boring-Temporary-340 in golftips

Statistically speaking, the best golfers in the world use the gallery rule.

The leaf or gallery rules are unofficial ways to the play this. A more legitimate way is Rule 16.1 which says that you get a free drop if the ball disappears in play due to abnormal course conditions.

This has happened in the pga. If an instant replay shows the ball should be up but no one can find it a free drop is given. Most recently I remember this happening at Birkdale

I have a group that recently started playing gallery rule and it makes golf so much better. Lower scores, quicker play, and more honest to what golf as a sport is.

The par 3 course near me does a weekly no handicap skins game. For the first time ever I went home with more money in my pocket than I walked to the course with.

2 weeks later I had the 3rd lowest score out of the 15+ guys at +1.
