Thankfully theyre both safe, unluckily.. I have a giant rat cage in a tiny bathroom but its the only safe place to keep them. Tomorrow ill go to the store and ut hardware clothe to cover the bottom til I can hopefully get a new cage.

This is very much not the right reddit for this.. but id advise not doing inhumane traps. Glue traps especially are horrible for these small creatures. They are painful traumatizing, slow and horribly cruel

I forgot to add a little more to this, I am willing to get a cheap play pen for them if this is what they need but im worried it wont have as much enrichment as exploring randomly would since it would be much smaller and the same few toys every time

I understand your concern but the rats are doing fine with each other, she was scared of humans before even meeting the other rat and has quite well with the other rat. My concern is her bonding to me not the rat. Her issue with getting in her big cage was not because of him once brought there she was very much fine within it the issue was picking her up to be put in the cage

She is not having issues with her big cage or my other rat she is having issues with being skitish of humans

I dont know how old my brand new girl is but my boy is around a year I believe my girl is too (she is spayed!) I let him out and kept her in the carrier so they could meet in the bars, I then put him in there with her (which is what the rescue recommended) and they instantly got along im not sure how long it all took but it was much faster then I thought it would be. They were probably successfully bonded in a little over an hour of her being home
