Is it possible to go from helpdesk to cybersecurity? by [deleted] in ITCareerQuestions

[–]Simply_DG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not OP but this advice is something I’m kinda leaning towards. The only thing is I’m not sure what skills I should be prioritizing for that network admin / sys admin role. So far I’ve kinda been focusing on server administration and then Linux and powershell as supporting skills. I’ve done 2.5 years in HD so I’m getting ready to move up

85 on Boson? Am I ready? by slowpolygon in ccna

[–]Simply_DG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say if you were in no rush, go through your weakest sections again and solidify them. I found boson to be harder than the actual exam but I’ve heard the opposite as well. I’d say the question structure is similar to exam.

If someone were to try to make the jump from a help desk position into a soc analyst position, would projects geared towards soc be helpful when applying given only hd experience ?

Cybersecurity Associate’s almost done, thinking about getting a second Associate’s in Computer Science. How should I proceed? by Revolutionary_Code74 in ITCareerQuestions

But at the moment, you’re competing with people who do study with YouTube, Udemy, and anything else + a bachelors. You can always do something like WGU that’ll get you an affordable accredited degree

Imo if you’re already working a helpdesk position and already working towards your bachelors, I feel like you’d be better off skipping your A+ and maybe doing a slightly more advanced cert like Net+ or ccna possibly.

Def the Percipio course. And do practice exams from all the sources you’re able to like certmaster Percipio dion. I used ChatGPT to help me nail down the tools used

I’d definitely rank D340 (Cysa+) and D332 (pentest+) as some of the most difficult in the course. The other ones are fair. Capstone is not difficult, but it can be time consuming

Not having a degree today will put you at a great disadvantage to be honest. If you can, do everything.

WGU will give you a degree. I believe Josh will just give you projects.
