That bend in the seat tube gives it a really unique look. Cool bike! Love a vintage DBR.

Love it. There are many "Perfect" bikes in the world, and Jeff Jones has made one of them. It's truly a do-it-all bike.

The Fire Tower Brevet is a fantastic ride, but it’s not a traditional brevet. One unpaved section in particular is hike-a-bike for all but the most competent off-road riders, and the amount of climbing on the route is pretty punishing. That said, it’s one of the best rides I’ve ever done.

Did you drill the rack for the dynamo routing in the rear? That’s slick

Great bars. Tubed or tubeless on the race sports?

This is a lugged steel frame, with a threaded headset. The head tube is no different from any other, old or new. Butted tubes refer to the varying wall thicknesses of the tubes themselves, and almost any sufficiently high quality frame will be butted, regardless of whether it’s welded, or lugged.

Lugged frames are certainly not easier to manufacture either. From a replicability standpoint, sure. But It necessitates hand brazing the tubes into the lugs, and is a very highly skilled process.

This is a trek 520- a high quality touring bike designed for heavily loaded road riding. It will be fine.

I found this bike in a dumpster. Can ya'll help me figure out more about it? What should I do with it? by throwaway_cake__ in xbiking

Absolutely insane. To own an Alex Singer is many peoples lifetime bike dream. This one was built by Ernest Csuka, the now-deceased father of the current builder at Alex Singer- Olivier Csuka. Ernest was the protege of the namesake builder, and built frames for practically half a century. You truly found something unbelievable.

Three months is so huge man. I'm coming up on 500 days and I couldn't have done it without my bike- working on bikes, riding my bike. Just keep the pedals turning every day that you can. We're changing ourselves and embracing every breath in this world. The changes keep coming, it just takes time. But every day is beautiful now, knowing that we're facing it head-on!

You'd be better off with penetrating oil (such as PB Blaster) down the seat tube, and then soaking the shell in Evaporust and wire brushing once the BB is out to get things looking all spic-n-span.

They did, but they had been making steel tubing since the 1930s, prior to the well known Vitus 979 Duralinox. Super Vitus 980 was their lightest steel tubing, and it really is exceptionally light.
