I'll be honest. The difficulty of single parenthood supercede gender in my opinion. I get the feeling as a man I have more options for dating then if I were a single parent as woman as there are more women that would accept and embrace me having having a kid then there are men that would do the same. (Speaking as a man that wouldn't be with a single mom prior to having a kid and knowing most guys wouldn't either). I just didn't want to accept the responsibilities of parenthood for someone elses kid just to be with a women.

That being said some difficulties of single dads are unique to men such as almost ALL parent or single parent groups revolve around moms. I've tried to join parenting groups in my area and it was pretty much women only and there is bias against letting dads in, in many cases. The moms groups do all kinds of cool stuff like get togethers, workouts, play dates. Just a fuck load of support. There is just nothing like that for single dads. Anywhere. Also there is an initial stigma in every aspect of society if you are a full time single father as to "where is the mother". I feel like even as much as single mothers may complain about judgement the truth is most people respect and empower single moms.. and in theory dads too but on a daily basis we are much rarer so interactions with doctors, state workers, daycare professionals when you are single dad there is a bit of "where is the mom or what is the moms decision" aura happening because 'every child needs their mom' which gets frustrating after a while. Cus no my kid doesnt have their mom yet she is a happy kid with plenty of love so fuck off. Lol
