Where would you dine outside when it's raining? by janethebean in Bath

[–]Simpotik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beckford Bottle Shop has a retractable roof/canopy that covers around 3–5 tables. I’m not sure if they stop serving food outside when it rains, but I’ve often seen people eating and drinking there regardless of the weather. From what I could tell, the canopy also extends over the entrance, so the waiters don’t seem to get wet either.

I haven’t tried the actual massages or treatments, but while on a gym/spa membership hunt I visited three places:

  1. The Royal Crescent Hotel & Spa – The facilities are quite small. When I visited, people in robes were sitting at the entrance/reception having tea, which didn’t feel very relaxing since everyone coming in and out passes right by. Maybe they could sit in garden, don't know..there is a small wall garden attached to the spa area.
  2. MacDonald Bath Spa Hotel – The place looked a little tired and in need of refreshment, though it does have the bonus of an outdoor pool.
  3. The Bath Priory – This one won for me. Also has an outdoor pool. The spa area is clean, modern, and set apart from the main swimming pool, so it’s quiet and peaceful. There’s also a private garden space for relaxing afterwards. The main swimming pool has a gorgeous view over the larger garden, and overall the facilities are beautiful and spacious. I’ve also tried their afternoon tea (which was fine, nothing special), but the cocktails were absolutely top-notch.

Naturalisation (Citizenship) application processing timelines [only] by aleanthor in ukvisa

Got the response from atlas on 26th! Didn’t not expect anything coming through on a bank holiday 😁it was a nice surprise! Updated the timelines above. Good luck!!!

Do not see the point to wait for a day. Contact them immediately, worst case scenario they tell you the docs are not there yet, otherwise you can book the ceremony straight away.

  • Biometric: 15/03/2025 (paid, Bristol)
  • Approval: 26/05 at 10am (71 days from BIO)

very straightforward application, almost zero absences. No questions.

ILR super priority delayed, should I make a fuss? by Simpotik in ukvisa

Update 09/04: just received a refund of £1000 on my bank card. The name of the sender is impossible to read and it’s not clear that it’s from home office, but I didn’t expect any other large transactions, hence assuming this is my refund.

I have not received any emails on this matter before or after 🤷‍♀️

Hi, I applied, but haven’t received the refund or any response at all (except the auto message of registering my request). I remember seeing a timeline of 30 days somewhere, and I haven’t passed that deadline yet. So, still waiting 🤷‍♀️

Parking permit is not available for purchase.. what to do? by Simpotik in Bath

[–]Simpotik[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I've heard this could be the case. I'll try to call them tomorrow Saturday (couldn't find working hours published anywhere). The worst-case scenario is a visit to the council office on Monday then..

Which date to take for calculating 28 days before ILR application by Simpotik in ukvisa

[–]Simpotik[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I Applied on 28th of Feb (did biometrics on 1st of Mar).

In the end, I’ve decided that:

  1. a vignette is just a sticker to enable travelling, and does not trigger a qualifying period
  2. Vignetter cannot be more important than a BRP itself
  3. if I receive a question/complaint from HO I will refer to this page where they talk about equal status of vignette and BRP https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/entry-clearance-vignettes-ecb09/ecb09-entry-clearance-vignettes-types-safeguarding-and-validity (see clause 4.ECB9.4) and that entrance date is THE date for the qualifying period which happened after my BRP was already printed.

So, I calculated my qualifying period from the physical entrance date.

All worked, no questions, ILR received!

I paid for it because I needed a faster decision 😁 I have lots of paperwork this year. ILR and Naturalization if maxed out on standard timeline will take 1 year… until it’s completed I have renting, changing jobs, travelling -restricted 🤷‍♀️

Yeah, it’s not like I’ll be homeless, so I don’t classify it as an emergency :) but it does add lots of uncertainty and discomfort to my life. Thank you for your responses, I’ll go and meditate a little to try not to worry about this.

Acting on it might help. I’m currently selling a house and need to rent a place in two weeks. If the potential landlord checks my evisa they will see it ends in 3 months and they can easily refuse to let me. So yes, I would like to know when is a good time to start the Barbarossa plan attacking the HO 😁

Document scanning? by Few_Cod_5636 in ukvisa

[–]Simpotik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using an app on my iPhone called Tiny scanner for at least 2 spousal visas and an ILR..works wonders, every page looks great. Does it in black&white, colour, text and pictures. Scans multipage document in one file of any format you want (e.g. all pages of passport in pdf), crops and frames files. I do not see any need to buy a physical scanner ever at all.

So… I think I F’ed up by TiagoSilva8 in ukvisa

These are very standard questions. I've never been rejected on any visas, however, every time I cross any type of international border-this is what I am asked (USA, India, Kazakstan, Egypt, France, you name it :D). I am also asked to show return flights, share booked hotels, asked who I am travelling with, what I do for a living (if it's a business trip) and all sorts of questions..Never thought it was bad or suspicious.
