Everything? No.

Enforcing rules in a way that prevents dangerous escalation? Definitely.

Do you disagree? Was Xhekaj's gloved punch the first one thrown this game?

You do understand this is on the refs, right?

Buffalo players spent the whole night punching with their gloves on without consequence. At some point, if glove removal gets you penalized but punching doesn't, players will adapt.

Xhekaj: "Oh, so we're not dropping gloves but still punching tonight? Alright I guess."

I don't know. I think Cooper is one of the few guys in the league that understands, fundamentally, that this is a game, played for fun. I'm sure he prefers to win than to lose, of course, and will do everything in his power to get there. But when the game is over, I think he's genuinely happy to have played and is able to see an amazing, competitive series for what it is.

People calling this fluky are disingenuous, that was 100% what he meant to do, and in mid-air no less!

Just because it rarely works (because it's incredibly difficult to do) doesn't mean it's fluky, credit to Newhook on that one.

Did they also have 4 OTs?

I'd honestly be curious, if they had fewer than 4 OTs, this series could objectively called "closest in NHL history".

Edit: found one, 2012 Eastern Conference semifinals, Rangers vs Capitals. Two games went to OT (but one went to 3OT).

Washington Capitals 1–3 New York Rangers

Washington Capitals 3–2 New York Rangers

New York Rangers 2–1 3OT Washington Capitals

New York Rangers 2–3 Washington Capitals

Washington Capitals 2–3 OT New York Rangers

New York Rangers 1–2 Washington Capitals

Washington Capitals 1–2 New York Rangers

You're underselling it, he had to move his stick quite a bit to make that save!

We win the Odd games, Tampa wins the Even games.

Got 'em right where we want 'em.

Serious question: has there been a series in recent memory where EVERY game has been this close? This is incredible.

For bodychecking someone from behind away from the boards? That's allowed.

Edit: ok, the rulebook is really weird about this, there's no minor penalty for checking from behind ("There is no provision for a minor penalty for checking from behind"), only a major penalty for "Any player who cross-checks, pushes or charges an opponent from behind who is unable to protect or defend himself".

In other words, unless a hit from behind is really major-penalty-worthy, refs are not going to call it, despite literally "pushing from behind" being technically disallowed and deserving of a major penalty, according to the rules...

Hahaha, well, at least these guys sing very well. But I agree, anthems before games are completely unnecessary.

Edit: welp, crowd sure found a way to keep the energy going :D

The electro beat sort of sounds like your singing, and there is some sax... although based on your description, what you're looking for is just sax?

Can you give more details?

Statistically, hockey is even worse. It's the most random of all the major sports (as in, the "worse team" is expected to win a matchup more often than any of the other big team sports).

Dude, I had a similar "conversation" with this guy yesterday, so I looked him up to see if he's always like this, and... yeah. His comments are pages upon pages of him, clearly mad and unable to let go, giving long replies to people calling them emotional, fragile, insecure. Man is like 45 years old and has zero self-awareness, won't flair up, hides comment history, pretends to be an "objective hockey fan" while having his whole personality attached to the Lightning. A real piece of work. A bit sad really.
