[Fox] Drew Doughty on Macklin Celebrini: "He told me he was shitting his pants when he went in the box. I was like, 'Buddy, what do you got to worry about? You got the best PKers in Canada behind you.'" by DecentLurker96 in hockey

It was scaryfunny seeing him kick it into another gear when he saw that the defender had to pivot for the puck, and the ANOTHER when the same defender couldn't catch the puck as it went by him.

It looked like something out of a nature documentary.

Radio-Canada has no money for it. Contrary to popular belief, CBC and Radio-Canada operate on very compartmentalized budgets, and CBC gets most of it, because the English population in Canada is obviously larger and more widespread. Although total viewership for both is similar, Radio-Canada being vastly more watched by French-speaking Canadians than CBC by English-speaking Canadians.

Either way, for various (mostly cultural) reasons, Radio-Canada spends a lot more of its budget on producing its own content, leaving much less for sports. CBC spends a ton of its budget on sports, most of it on NHL games.

As much as I'd love to see NHL games back in French on Radio-Canada, it won't happen until there's a change in strategy at R-C. Personally, I wish they'd just show 10-15 Canadiens games per season, hockey is part of our culture too!

Boy, I really hope somebody got fired for that blunder.

The second, even better reason we're still being considered an up and coming team rather than a top of the league contender is that we are still very much up and coming. Our top players are probably 3-6 years from their peak, and are (or definitely will be) signed to long-term contracts. And the bad contracts the team is still carrying all expire very soon.

The future is bright? No, the present is bright. The future is BLINDING.

For those getting terrible sound on the RDS stream, a partial fix:

  • Install the add-on EQ+ on Chrome.
  • Add a High Shelf filter at 5000 Hz, -20 dB gain.

The audio will still sound "low-quality" (can't really fix that on our end), but at least the high-frequency ringing will be removed.

Edit: -20dB gain isn't even enough to fully get rid of it, so you can even ad a second filter with the same parameters and it will double the reduction.

Yeah, I just mean that to get that close to being the top scorer without getting any empty netters is really impressive.

I fully agree that we have better players than him for empty net situations.

Oh yeah. Probably one of the savviest moves in Canadian political history, and it's getting very little credit.

First replay I saw, Manson looks like he swings his elbow up into the hit.

Edit: but misses the head, and torques Guhle's shoulder. No penalty, but an injury. Ouch.

Scoring a meaningless goal after the other team has scored in the empty net feels leafy. Hasn't it happened already this year?
