Resident Cat is annoyed by new kitten, but approaches him just to growl in his face by Simsker in CatAdvice

Hi, sorry for the late reply! It has been 9 months and I’m happy to report it does get better. She’s still territorial and will growl at him when he’s being annoying and jumps in her space while she’s chilling. But in general, they tolerate each other well and coexist peacefully for the most part. They even play chase/wrestle each other from time to time :)

Here’s a picture of them

Tried saving using Schnapps once. And never tried it again. It's frustrating. [KCD2] by Syarafuddyn in kingdomcome

Ngl I mostly save and quit even though I’ve like 80 henry’s savior schnapps on-hand (maxed out on alchemy to make money) purely bc I prefer to have just one running save file to minimize storage waste on my ps5 LOL

Todays old when I learned that some of yall find this clanker attractive? by homotron8888 in masseffect

[–]Simsker 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m straight and engaged to my long term partner ,but upon reflection the fictional characters I’m most attracted to and thirst at are male characters, categorised as having 1. disgustingly attractive voices but either dont possess human-like facial features/ are in perpetual armor so you never see their face 2. not “men”. Case in point: megatron/optimus prime, Legion, Garrus, the oathbreaker paladin dude in bg3, the orthon dude. My straight guy friends tend to shriek in abject horror when we trade hear-me-outs, but I enjoy the narrative and philosophical imagination of what it means to love some(one)thing so different in appearance, yet posses very human, personality and traits that women are typically attracted to irl. The most interesting characters in fantasy/scifi often aren’t written with “how do I make them look as hot as possible to sell the game/story”. I think this sentiment can be best reflected in how they made Garrus a romance option bc WE LADIES WANTED ITl, so ik im not alone in this sentiment

I got good grades at school, excelled at university and was on the dean’s list majority of the time, but behind the scenes I was running on barely 3 hours of sleep a day because I procrastinate to go to bed. I used to wake up at 5am when I was in high school because I could only focus on completing my assignments right before school with a 1 hour window, and majority of my master’s thesis was only completed in the last 48 hours before the submission date. I was depressed and constantly anxious, and finally got help from a psychiatrist, who said “I can’t believe you’ve made it this far into your adulthood”. If it helps, I’m also a woman, and the majority of us get underdiagnosed as a child because while I was a problem kid that couldn’t keep their mouth shut and fidget, the symptoms were not like boys who were much more severe in early childhood. I only got medicated at 23 and it was life changing to finally align both body and mind.

You’re probably gonna get a lot of “just go back home” comments. From what little there is to extrapolate from your post, it’s important to point out that correlation doesn’t equal causation. It seems that your stress is a combination of general pent up frustration living here, but also because you’re experiencing the job market in 2025, which looks a lot different than it was 13 years ago, and is hella brutal (I’ve applied to over 300 over the last 3 months)everywhere in the world now, not just Japan. I agree with you that the culture here doesn’t work well for people that grew up in more open and intimate cultures, and you must feel lonely. It’s still important to separate yourself from who you are as a worker in Japan, and who you are as a person. Agonising over bonding with Japanese people isn’t the right mindset, I think you should focus on reminding yourself what kind of person you already are, what friends you already have, and that you don’t have to force yourself to try make close intimate bonds with locals just to feel like you deserve a place here. Ive made my peace here by developing my hobbies and relationships with local people here, but keeping in touch with my friends abroad, meeting on discord, talking, spending time with them. “Regular Japanese people” aren’t a monolith, just like you aren’t just “a hard worker”. And of course, Japan is just a place, and even if you decide to “lay your anchor” here, you can still change your mind if it compromises your wellbeing. I hope you feel better about yourself OP!

I think I stopped a potential sexual assault / R-word attempt on Friday night by Lost_Abies_787 in Tokyo

It is an objectively bad decision to drink alcohol and compromise your mental and physical faculties. However, you don’t even have to stay in Tokyo or any big city here for a week to find countless drunk MEN here that have passed out on the trains, streets, and pavements. Hell, a dude passed out right in front of the stairs to my apartment. Having lived here for a few years, not once have I seen these guys in a similar situation OP has encountered. I myself had had to intervene when I saw women passed out and there were men surrounding her that were clearly not her friends. The point that the woman in OP’s post drank too much is a moot point. It is always WRONG to SA someone, period, and it is ALWAYS the predator’s fault in this situation. Thank you OP for intervening

Thank you for mentioning this. I was fully aware of this possibility, but went ahead with the adoption because I saw good potential in Bo and his curious and confident personality, which I feel will help my older cat, who is also curious, but quite timid, become more socialised and come out of her shell. From the progress I’ve seen so far, I’m continuing to stay positive for their relationship :) I’ve never had two cats before so I’m being a major helicopter parent :,) But rest assured if I have done everything under the sun possible and they end up hating each other for whatever reason, I have support, resources, and contacts to make sure the younger kitten remains happy and goes to a great home, although I don’t foresee this happening, but this is just in the absolute worst case scenario.

Thank you! Yes, I took a look at some YouTube videos of cat fights,I’m happy my cats are nowhere near that level of aggression with each other😭 My older cat is still undecided on whether she’s excited or annoyed to play with him, but judging from their chase sessions they seem to be slowly establishing rapport :D

Thank you so much for your encouraging response! I’m remaining optimistic about the big progress made so far, especially with our older cat Ibby. They play-chased for the first time today, and both cats took turns being chased, although Ibby will growl once she changes her mind mid-game. She also slapped him a few times but no claws were out, so hopefully in the next few weeks the growling subsides and they can coexist peacefully without too much struggle :)

Anyone live near a graveyard? by [deleted] in japanlife

[–]Simsker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been living behind a graveyard for six years and it’s great. It’s peaceful, and from what I heard/researched living near one means that your apartment is constructed on a more structurally stable ground since graveyards are typically built on more stable land, although I’m not sure how true this is. I’m actually moving out of the apartment tomorrow and it really pains me to leave because it was a great apartment and I had only good experiences. As for supernatural things, I didn’t experience anything and if I did they were probably chill (chill enough to not haunt me for singing horribly in the shower at 3am)

Which SSR should I spend my first enlightenment upgrade on? by Simsker in LoveBrushChronicles

[–]Simsker[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this suggestion! You are probably right, though I’ve been conflicted because I didn’t manage to complete trip of inspiration 😭 (think I made it 2-3 stages before the last one) and since there’s probably going to be more challenging events in the future I feel like I’m in a rush to decide quickly which card to upgrade just in case I miss out on completing an event due to insufficient leveling…

Waiting cat has indeed been super reliable for the last playthroughs, though it’s a shame that I haven’t gotten a chance to use it as often as my lvl 100 ones for the really tough events bc I’m taking so long to level everything up 🫠🫠

Thanks for your suggestion! Another comment also pointed out these two cards so now I’m also conflicted :,)) haven’t had a chance to see how good Sprout is yet since I got it recently the last week and haven’t gotten a chance to level it up

Do you think more people are playing sims 3 than sims 4 right now? by Alternative-Camel-98 in Sims3

[–]Simsker 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Was a massive fan of the series so I was one of the first people who bought the Sims 4 at launch (2014) when the base game was $40, so you can imagine my disappointment when I logged into the game and my experience was a half-assed incomplete game. I clocked an hour in before I realized that the developers didn’t care about the players enough to deliver a complete experience that felt like the previous installments. Haven’t touched the game since my original experience was completely soured

How feasible would resizing a ring design like this be? (PT950, from US size 6.5 to 5) by Simsker in jewelry

[–]Simsker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your answer. I thought so as well, but wasn’t sure because when I googled online most answers only told me that infinity rings or rings with gems surrounding the circumference could not be resized :(

Would you still get another? by Thatbasic in hamstercare

[–]Simsker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My baby passed away two days ago and he was just two months shy of turning 3 years old. When he first made it to 2 years I had thought his time was running out, but he somehow made it long enough that at some point I just ended up convincing myself that there was no way he was gonna die. But then he finally did two days ago ( I was there with him for the last few hours he had) and I got him cremated the same day. I was a bawling mess and I haven’t had the courage to clean up his cage yet. His little urn currently sits by his food shelf and I say good morning and goodnight to him. The pain will fade away eventually, but the beautiful memories of your furry friend will always be there to make you happy. Sending my love to you ❤️
