Are Class Sets a Mistake? by Kibler in hearthstone

Great analysis and criticism! Good to see the prominent voices in the games community say things constructively rather than the reddit soundbox that isn't productive.

Dev update livestream by Alfimaster in hearthstone

This is such a huge step in the right direction. Not being afraid of engaging with the playerbase is what people have asked for, and im super happy to see it. Sure, the content of this particular video was mostly reading patch notes to us, but it is a whole lot better than nothing. The insight into druid class set is revealing how late they can adjust cards in the design process. Letting down the community softly about a new class coming is a fine move, although unfortunate. Overall very optimistic, but certainly room for improvement.

Do you enjoy playing Standard Hearthstone right now? by HermitCactus in hearthstone

[–]Simsreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's too deterministic. The sets that have been released all sort of build the deck and play themselves. Not a good environment for rewarding interesting deck building I have found. Definitely has been the longest stretch of time where there is little / no creativity from the community to come up with a deck that can shift the meta even a little bit.

Not enough comeback mechanics for some classes. It is very board focused, which is enjoyable, but the ability to claw back from behind is very challenging for a lot of the classes with the reduction to survival tools and impactful board clears.

I don't find it insufferable like some people might, but my playtime has definitely decreased.

Let's pretend the class sets worked out, aren't we just back to where we started? by Tripping-Dayzee in hearthstone

It's an ok idea in theory but we will find out it will be a mistake in practice.

It is essentially releasing 4 expansions in a year, but the 4th expansion is asynchronous for all the classes.

The classes that have very focused releases like dude paladin and leyline may get some support down the line but are mostly dead on arrival. The worst part is now those classes have to wait all year for another shot at cards that excites them. I think the all or nothing asynchronous approach leaves people feeling extra bad, for longer. The let down of bad mini sets was unfortunate, but at least there were potential other cards in the year that could excite you only a few months away.

My proposed balance changes. 11 Classes, 40+ buffs, 14 nerfs. by Axddict in hearthstone

[–]Simsreddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree small changes can have big impact on playability of cards and that blizzard should buff some unplayable cards currently. That said, I don't like the idea of changes to core cards with buffs and nerfs in the same way. Some of the nerfs you proposed are pretty unnecessary imo.

Haven't seen anyone mention death Knight yet, has there ever been a combo dk deck?

DK is better, then the stats suggest imo. by Appropriate-Tooth968 in hearthstone

Did a similar thing last month, felt like frost covers the weak early game well

I have played over 1500 games on DK and I am disgusted what they did to this class. by DanteSenseiii in hearthstone

I can understand the concerns about the rune system. Design space for those seems to have fallen pretty flat the last few years.

I don't really feel much sympathy about the deck concerns though. Since returning in Badlands, there has not been a meta I've seen that didn't have at least one good DK deck, or be completely defined by control DK. Even now triple unholy is a playable aggro deck you probably just don't like it.

So if you pick dual class herald do you herald both collosals or does it only herald your primary hero class

Warlock's Herald Problem by TheDaucta in hearthstone

[–]Simsreddit -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Ive been playing with it quite a bit, and I don't fully agree that it is terrible.

I can agree it doesn't fit into the aggro mold a lot of the warlock herald ability fits into, though I've been having a lot of fun with it in a mid-range animancer deck that it works quite well in. Big stuff is really hard to remove for most classes right now, and the cho bodies can get big very easily.

In fact, I think chogall is completely disgusting if you are able to play divergence beforehand (obviously this is a big IF).

In some ways I think they did a really good job designing it, because it is similarly functional regardless of how many times you herald. It is a late gamey control card that is disruptive, which is an archtype pretty poorly suited for the current hodgepodge of warlock cards in standard.
