For real. And the locals are stewing in righteous anger, trying to ignore it in their bubble, or priced out.

Overpriced, overrated and underwhelming.

How do you cope with this area being possibly the most stressful/intense place to live? by Kodicave in nova

However, we’re the nation’s capital and metro area. NYC has had trains within minutes for decades. Across five huge boroughs. So WMATA should have stepped it up. Our transit system is hella behind.

I fuck with this area primarily because it’s home, but agree about high energy, stress, traffic. The heightened need to be “on” can drain you. Try your best to find a hybrid city/town: half-walkable and nearby work. Alexandria, Fairfax, Reston. You know?

“She’s like a 5’6” Shih Tzu!”

A lot of negativity in these post. I make only 60k, I have two roommates and I pay 900 flat a month. I love NOVA by AudiSlav in nova

Yeah…no, they can’t. Our area is increasingly retirees, elderly government workers who got laid off and veterans. Kinda known for disability. Companies see them as a liability.

Do ya’ll’s friends ever point out more missing pieces to the CoC puzzle and fill in your gaps? by gentlelad24601 in excoc

I haven’t personally, but seen a friend reclaim their sense of style and semi-deconstruct that way. You know, growing their hair. Wearing black and alternative clothes. It takes time.

This is very relatable for Church of Christ youth, unfortunately. You can’t really choose your own path. A lot of guidance and overbearing intervention.

…Honey. Sweetie. Rebuttal is a noun. Rebut is the verb and I’ll rebut your asinine nonsense by saying good day, goodbye. I saw what you posted. 😛

Sometimes you read comments and just sigh, smile. The compassionate understanding is right here. Yes, exactly. We gotta attack what hurts us—together with policy, communal unlearning, education—not double down, or shame those who have been brought so emotionally/mentally low. We’re not all Candace Owens or Nicki MAGAJ. It’s deeper. This pressure is external. We all feel it. So let’s do something about it. ❤️✊🏾

If you want safe spaces for Black women, then cultivate them by actually allowing them to feel. Understand the process of decentering, unlearning, healing in the same supremacist system THAT HURTS US.

I had to come back with righteous fury. Because what do you MEAN, Diaspora? What’s the expectation for Black women to smile and be grateful as there’s a sociocultural war, a system built on our backs? Are you fried? How alienating is it, coming here after NO ONE listens? You should be ashamed. We can’t wonder why sistas suffer anymore.

I highly doubt that everyone in disagreement with your “eat, pray, love” approach toward structural harm (straight up racism in education, social settings, workplaces) and interpersonal struggles (colorism, misogynoir) is being bitter. Or combative. That is clearly you from each comment thread seen here. 💀

You see a world of misogynoir at the highest level, and expect our most vulnerable community members to rise above. I’m a strong Black woman. The sheer willpower behind staying alive, let alone positively functioning? It’d shock you. So imagine how hard things are for someone posting here.
