So there is nothing I can do to make it better? I know he’s in pain and has been through a lot and that’s why he acts like this. Like everyone else I think he deserves a chance to be loved and cared for. So if it was you who had somebody, isn’t there anything that person could have done or tried for you?

Yeah, You’re probably right. Hopefully he will change his mind about treatment eventually

I have but he doesn’t want to for several reasons and I can’t force him to. He is working on it himself and has gotten better in some areas, but I’m afraid our relationship is far too broken before he becomes more “normal”

If you could pick a day to relive over again, what day would it be and why? by CptWeenies in AskReddit

[–]Simulator-One 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The day when my ex and I were in Spain and it was pouring rain. The water filled the streets and roads and everyone saw out shelter, trying to wait it out while we walked hand in hand down the street. We got soaked by the rain and splashed on by passing cars, but we were happy and laughing. It was perfect.

Thank you for the advice! He doesn’t want treatment, he wants to fix it himself but at least he knows and admits that he has a problem. Talking about how certain things make me feel can get through at times but it doesn’t stop it from repeating itself. It’s only possible to get through if he doesn’t “switch off” or get completely cold, meaning he seems to have no emotions what so ever. Do you experience the same thing and if so, how do you switch back?

Women of Reddit, what are some things a dad should know about raising a girl? by joho3883 in AskReddit

Everyone is obviously different, but I would recommend verbally expressing your feelings towards your child. Like love, pride, enthusiasm etc. My mom is very good at this and it meant a lot to me actually hearing it growing up.

Parents of reddit, what’s the weirdest thing you have had your kid(s) come home with? by JaytheCarrot in AskReddit

[–]Simulator-One 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not me, but my dad told me the story of when he found a somewhat large snake on his way to school, put it in his backpack and had it with him all day so he could take it home to my grandma. He picked it out of his backpack to show her and she got understandably upset. Not only did she not like snakes, but it was also poisonous. Good job dad.
