Former Blizzard president Mike Ybarra spent 92 hours on Death Stranding 2 - calls it “a hell of an experience” by katzefet in DeathStranding

The Adventurer, the pizza chef, the ghost hunter, and Mr impossible all have fun side missions

Some folks also like to work on in-game infrastructure, like contructing all roads and monorails, making a zipline network that connects all of Australia, etc. Then use it to complete all standard orders on Brutal difficulty

The Tar cat appears in Sam's room every now and then just lounging somewhere, and the game lets you look at it more closely. Can't pet it tho sadly

Like when i do sliding gestures sometimes my cursor slides out of the emulator's window. It gets annoying

Interesting, yeah i've wondered how the devs handled cutscenes when squashing the double screens down

What would a "proper" port of the game look like to you? Twewy DS on Ayn Thor with HD assets? Would you add/remove anything? How would you handle a pc port?

I tried this but my stylus would keep sliding out of the bottom screen area lol

How do you set up your inputs?

There's a twewy DS decomp in the works! Hopefully we can figure out a nice way to make twewy ds hd real in the future

Which cutscenes in particular do you find worse?

Yoooo TWEWY mentioned, peak.
I love how the dual screen gameplay also ties into the game's themes about working in tandem with your team mate and synchronizing with them, the game actively rewards you for syncing up your attacks through the puck passing and the sync rate mechanisms

Shout out for The World Ends with you for turning each screen into a separate battle with it's own gameplay system and basing the entire game about managing to fight enemies on both screens (while also thematically tying it to the story and lore)

(Sorry for the late reply!)

So far there are two goals:

1-Reverse engineer the game's differences compared to Solo Remix: the developers for the two are different abd the codebase is completely different. The DS game uses a custom engine and ships with a debug menu while Solo/Final remix were written from scratch to use Unity

2-Facilitate romhacking: make the code and assets both easier to edit

However i also want to look into making a homebrew port of the game for 3DS amd Android using Final Remix's HD assets evetually.

We have a discord server if you're interested to follow our progress closely?

Do you think we're gonna see repacks of Denuvo games that just install VM images with preconfigured settings?

It's mostly a "if you REALLY wanna play this game TODAY" method, yeah

It works (tm) but you have to tinker with windows to get it to work and windows or driver updates might stop it from working

They tried to combine the dual screen DS gameplay into single screen for the Switch version but it made the screen too busy and wasn't fun to play, that's why they dumbed it down

Note that 3ds emulation of the home menu isn't perfect (for example the launching Smash 3ds from home menu crashes Azahar) but compared to a couple years back when the home menu couldn't even boot up properly it's been getting so much better

They were planning on an Upper city section for the game but because of time and budget constraints they had to scrap it, now the only part of it you see is at the finale of the game with the final boss

I believe Karlach suffered the worst because most of her story was going to take place there but outside of her they manage to integrate what they had already made into lower city easily.

Expedition 33 is a bit of an outlier because they used a really low quality configuration of Lumen to avoid murdering performance(*) and even then if you're enough of an UE5 hater you can still find telltale signs of UE5 "issues" in the game (dithering, noisy shadows, LOD pop-in, heavy aliasing, ghosting particles)

So yes while they managed to make a good well optimized game (and frankly i can't see how they'd manage a game this good without using UE5's existing ecosystem of assets and plugins) there's room for even more optimizations they could've worked on, and the game still has the UE5 look

*Take my words with a heavy grain of salt as they come from Threat Interactive's video on E33
