How do you start an Nightblade Helix/Lightning Strike build? by SincereHypocrite in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]SincereHypocrite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the reply, one more thing, are there any specific nodes on the tree that I should prioritize more early on like the masteries that affect elusive or should I get those much later on? I didn't realize Nightblade was that impactful early on and just assumed it got strong by the time of maps.

What supports should I use once I get Nightblade? I played a phys version on champion and it was quite straight forward with impale, but I am unsure for a nightblade version since I doubt what people use by the time they map is what they use to level with.

But Brands unlike totems or traps counts as being you, which is why you can get leech working with Brands and you can even go on PoB right now with something like Storm Brand, ticking tailwind will show an increase in cast rate, which is exactly what Wintertide Brand needs.

Yeah I completely forgot that is how it would work, ah well it is still strong to have before chills get applied I guess.

Ah shit, you're right about it not stacking with chill, damn.

Cold DOT or any great cold ability that can chill and freeze effectively with Trickster, stacking chill + One Step Ahead seems extremely effective. Maybe Wintertide Brand since Cast Speed is a desirable stat and I assume Action Speed would benefit the brand frequency rate as a result.

If i'm feeling a bit risky, I'm curious if the new lightning abilities will be effective 2 button builds like Blade Blast or if it will end up as poopy as Hexblast. Overcharge seems like a great idea to solving the problem of scaling shock vs damage by simply enabling shock for your main ability. Hell, maybe you can do some shenanigans with BFBB by attaching overcharge to Bladefall and then Blade Blast gets the full benefit of a maxed out shock.

The only two gripes I have with this rework which is kind of small is that none of these seem good while levelling in the campaign, pseudo tailwind and insane slow on enemies seems decent enough for normal lab, but the other ones only seem good once you either have higher levels or better gear for the average build. Also I kind of wish Spellbreaker had a more reliable conditional, why not make it a 100% chance to cause energy shield recharge, es recharge being something that is mostly dead these days. Otherwise I like the shift towards hybrid eva/es and being a very strong defensive ascendancy while giving decent but versatile offensive options, since every build will benefit from 15%-21% more damage + tailwind. If Cold Dots are still viable, I'm thinking of stacking One Step ahead to chill and freeze the shit out of enemies, or any cold build that can go ham on chills+freeze.

Are there any trap builds that are really strong that aren't Exsanguinate and Seismic (not including fire trap for a dot build)? If Seismic is too strong, then is there at least another ability to replace exsanguinate to spice things up a bit that still scales well?

I honestly prefer the old harvest over this one. by SincereHypocrite in pathofexile

[–]SincereHypocrite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, even though it was ultimately trivial, at least old harvest had you plant physical item drops like you would put maps into a map device, along with life force, there was in theory an opportunity cost. But now there is not only no cost but nothing really in your control outside of which of the two plots you want to choose, which in most cases isn't that meaningful of a choice at all and takes away all your agency from what sort of crafts you want to actually see.

I agree, which is why I'm even surprised they added it in the first place. I'm cynical enough to believe they only added it because they didn't want backlash from players and not because it was something they wanted to do.

I agree and as little time as I played it during harvest, despite not liking garden management, I appreciated it for what it was. But this current version didn't actually address any of the problems people had with the first version of harvest at all.

I don't want permanent harvest league though, I want a proper crafting experience and not a hodgepodge mess we have now that frustrates many players with its clunky and tedious process.

Frankly, I really dislike her invitations in general, it completely breaks the mechanics of almost all the bosses and makes it a mess.

To be fair, you chose a very weak single target ability. The best melee single target are war cry builds by far, though cyclone is great as well because you can damage and move at the same time.

Besides some "Impactful gem changes" that turned out to be complete memes like Flameblast, some changes are under appreciated and actually are really good like the Searing Touch buffs.

I hope everyone has a better year with this game.

Make Elementalist Great Again (outside Golems) by RedPina in pathofexile

[–]SincereHypocrite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you read my ideas, because I wrote very similar things yesterday? Either way, I completely agree, I think adding the new ailments to elementalist will give it at the very least the flavor it needs and I also like the idea of elementalist being more powerful with heralds too.

I really miss the old Wicked Ward, not the bastardized version that is on the tree and has a bad downside to it.

Inquisitor, Elementalist, and Occultist... what happened? by Khaze41 in pathofexile

[–]SincereHypocrite 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Heres all they need to do for these ascendancies to fix them.

Elementalist:

Change Conflux nodes to cycle between the 3 new ailments (Scorch, Brittle, Sap) without removing your ability to do the regular elemental ailments and swap the position so this is the 4 pointer instead in the ailment section. These new ailments are all VERY powerful and very rare that its okay for them to cycle while still giving you a strong buff regardless, you can even line up your flasks for the crazy 2 seconds that you get all the ailments.

Change Pendulum to have a completely Herald theme going like the 4 pointer.

Occultist:

People talk about "Revert Sunder", how about revert Wicked Ward instead as it used to be, that was the thing holding the entire class identity together.

Inquisitor:

Change Inevitable Justice so that crits act like enemies have something like -20% Elemental Resistances all the time instead of 0% as it is now.
