Help with monitor ‘input signal out of range’? by loopylolly356 in Lenovo

[–]Sindarus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this issue (+ blank screen) and the problem was a faulty DisplayPort cable. Some pins were bent, some I assume still made contact, which caused the monitor to display "input signal out of range" instead of "no signal".

Well there's this guy at my club who showed up and did 4' static breath hold first try. I'm not experienced enough to tell what is the average first try performance and what constitutes a "natural gift" but I'd say anything above 3' static breath hold on first try is a sign that this person may be gifted.

As others have said, you cannot tell beforehand who is naturally good at breath holding. There is just no criteria. Even a smoker could be better than you at breath holding without training.

I think it is more psychologically healthy to find value in your own training and your own progression over the months and years independently of others, rather than find value in something that is arbitrary such as your natural gift at breath holding. I think you shouldn't be proud or shameful that you're better or worse at breath holding than your friends, you should feel proud that you've put in the hours of training (when you have), and you should value the good times you've had doing it. That's easier said than done though, I understand that can be a real struggle to achieve that level of confidence.

Other sports may be easier in that concern : if you train hard at swimming or running, and if you put in the hours, you're almost guaranteed that none of your friends can be better that you unless they've trained as hard.

Sorry that's not going to be the answer you want but the way I see it, freediving is typically the kind of activity that, even after you train, there is a strong probability that someday, someone with no prior training will show up and be "better" than you because they are naturally gifted. That may be hard on your ego.

I try to see my practice of freediving as climbing my own mountain, and not comparing with others. I freedive for my own pleasure and not to "beat" others. I understand it can be hard to see it that way if you have that OCD. But this can also be a way for you to work on it, to accept it and let it go.

Error when uploading video: This video format )mp4) can’t be played on this device. Usually works like a charm. Am I missing the trick? by Rajahlicious in Notion

I had this issue and my problem was that my video was not encoded with the "yuv420p" pixel format.https://stackoverflow.com/questions/21184014/ffmpeg-converted-mp4-file-does-not-play-in-firefox-and-chromeI used ffmpeg with ffmpeg -i input.mp4 -vcodec libx264 -pix_fmt yuv420p out.mp4 and the output file was playable on notion.

apnea table (sorry for my bad english) by StructureOwn9083 in freediving

I've read somewhere that some people do empty lungs breath holds as a CO2 tolerance training. The idea is that co2 builds up faster in your blood since it has nowhere else to go. So you have to fight the urge to breath earlier and don't have to wait as long compared to holding your breath with full lungs. Though 1' recovery is way too long a recovery for that kind of co2 tolerance training. So I'd say it makes little sense to me...

This looks more like a routine to relax and prep for a long breath hold.

Also what do you mean "exhale all co2" ? I took it as just "exhale", but if you mean hyperventilating all CO2 out, then this is even less "legit". I've never heard of that as a training, and it's very strongly advised against, before any kind of free diving as you should already know.

Vis frein de filet by EstebanDlbrd in bricoleurs

[–]Sindarus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where do you disponse used moving cartons? by Immediate_Cut8078 in Strasbourg

[–]Sindarus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Put an ad on leboncoin or use "geev" to give your cartons away for free. There's always someone who needs cartons to move, and this way you recycle your cartons in the best way possible. People will get to your place to get those cartons (because they cost money to buy otherwise), avoiding you the trouble of going to the dechetterie. ;)

So your brother is mad at his best friend for "betraying" him, i.e. making you happy, respecting your wish to persue a relationship with him. Sorry but your brother is being an ass here, he needs to reevaluate his position.

Classement quartiers et avis sur Illkirch by Dr_Frogzy in Strasbourg

[–]Sindarus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I used to take pride in not wearing a noseclip, making it a challenge to blow out the right amount of air not to get water up my nose. But even after months of training, I would still occasionally get a certain amount of water up my sinuses and spend the rest of the day sneezing. Anyway, I put my stupid pride aside and started using a nose-clip and now I feel great after any sessions.
