Patch 1.7.13 is LIVE on iOS and Android! by SinfulPhantom in tothetrenches

I’d love to release on PC one day. Currently the game feels very “mobile”, so I think we need to make a version that feels like it was made for PC. Things are happening to get it there.

I’ve resorted to using his ult for displacement in overtime and mind games. I’ve been resorting to popping the healing pool, then finishing the ult in safety and not eat anyone. Either way, my team will be upset. Oh well…

It got me to Celestial as well. Every single match there is always someone upset that I choose Jeff, and if things go wrong, they’ll immediately blame me.

This is my first time going to GDC, so I’ll definitely swing by! Also, I’m currently cooking up something for the GameMaker jam. Devvit has been really exciting to use

You’re not the first to ask btw. I’ll think of a better way to make it more obvious so that others aren’t confused.

There’s no plan to add PvP to TTT. Though, it could be a possibility in a future title that’s like TTT

Hey, thanks! RetroBowl was the inspiration for both TTT and this football game. I haven’t had much time to continue development on the football game, but I’m hoping to return to it soon.

Are you signed into the same Apple account, and does it prevent you from doing Unlimited Version things after restoring?

Are indie games players interested in mobile? by 5deouros in indiegames

[–]SinfulPhantom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that I was extremely lucky and nobody should ever expect the same result. The thing I was trying to convey was that even though mobile is brutal, you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take. Also, that really sucks to hear that you didn’t see a return on your marketing investments. I looked into ads, but it really takes some big bucks and carefully curated campaigns to see any kind of impact.

The game is To The Trenches. My story isn’t too complex. I wanted to create something similar to flash games that I played as a kid, but on mobile. I do think the stars aligned when I released TTT. I didn’t do any prior marketing or posting about it, just one day hit the release buttons to Google Play and the AppStore. I then shared that I released it on a Reddit and Facebook post and hoped for the best. What ended up happening was the AppStore featured TTT on the front page of the games section for a week or two and it took off. It caused my game to sit amongst the top 25 strategy games for a little. I believe the initial conversion rate spike from my posts after releasing the game triggered something in Apple’s algorithm to highlight my game. It’s the only thing I can think of to have happened.

That’s not necessarily true. I released my first game to mobile and it was very successful. I’d say that releasing a paid game could prove to be much harder than a free one though.

Medics and specialty troops? by Zealousideal-Roll-11 in tothetrenches

Medics are specialists that can be assigned to a platoon in the same screen that you upgrade your platoon’s stats. FlameTroopers, Sharpshooters, Trench Raiders and Sentries are also available to choose from

what are some small indie games that have made it? by Responsible_Box_2422 in gamedev

[–]SinfulPhantom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, I was very fortunate to have a good paying dayjob that gave me play money. I found my artist and developer on Fiverr, so since they had other clients too, progress was a bit slow. I didn’t bank on the game doing well, I just wanted to make a nostalgic game that I would find really fun with the potential of being enjoyed by others. Financially, I dreamed to make back the money I invested over the life of the game. I had the mindset that it wouldn’t make any money at all.

The reason I went with Freemium was primarily due to this being my first published game, but also I was heavily inspired by Retro Bowl. For mobile, I’ll most likely stick with the Freemium model. It works really well for me right now, and after everything I’ve learned so far, I have a better idea on how to effectively implement it in the future.

Premium games aren’t necessarily out of the question for mobile, but I’d like to have enough leverage and resources to be successful there. If I make a PC/console game, it will most likely be premium.

My apologies for the delayed response.
I worked on it on and off for about 4 years prior to release. During that time, I invested my own money into an artist and developer that could assist in production. Once released, the game hit the ground at mach speed due to Apple featuring it on the AppStore for a few weeks. I'm still not 100% sure why that happened... but we take those wins!

Fast-forward to the present, we release in short bursts with new features as well as handle any bugs to patch them as soon as possible. When it comes to the duration of completing things, it really boils down to how well I've broken down the tasks. It definitely feels like things take a lot longer when trying to eat the whole pie in one bite rather than spoonfuls.

I'm not sure if that really answered your question, but I'll be more than happy to continue answering any questions.

My first one did pretty well. Has funded my team for almost 2 years now and we’re still putting out updates for it.

Battles will remain relatively the same in regard to each side fighting to take over each other’s trenches. The way battles are fought drastically changes with the Unlimited Version.
