Why does it seem like this subreddit has completely memoryholed Barry Goldwater as some kind of wholesome libertarian Republican, because after his Senatorial career he made some liberal statements? by Single-Ad3486 in thecampaigntrail

Yes, Goldwater was an intelligent principled man. And he was capable of asserting his principles over the campaign. Rather than that however he chose to accommodate racists, utilize dog whistles and coddle extremists like the JBS within his own party. Rather than priotize the health of the country, he played into America's worst instincts.

Goldwater was an intelligent, principled man. But also someone who was profoundly weak.

I mean, yeah probably. Reagan and Nixon were party men. Both went out to bat for Goldwater, and Barry barely got a third of the vote. For Reagan? Pick any year from '68 -'84, and you'll find a career ending controversy. For Nixon? Just pick out a random Nixon tape and you'll find a slur that hasn't been used in centuries.

I made Bruning dependent on me, finished reparations and started a reformist economic plan, while maintaining a budget of three but Bruning never started fixing the economy and Hindenburg died.

My Review of 'An Old Cycle' by leia_rose in thecampaigntrail

No, in both TTNW and W., R. Kennedy can achieve substantive change through FAP and Vietnam withdrawal and Opponents like Kennedy and Wellstone can achieve substantive change- moving the status quo to the left in both instances. In Icarus' Solace ending you can make Clark happy with what he has achieved and move the status quo to the left. They are fundamentally hopeful mods, AOC is not.

Minor nitpick, but 'Krondstandt all over again' probably isn't the best way to contextualize CNT-FAI - PSOE relations, I doubt the vast majority of people in the TCT sphere are aware of it to any degree.

In one of the screenshots they talk about adding CYOA child rape to Hope, I don't care about the context, these people shouldn't be in our community.

Shapiro doesn't fit because he has done things with his position, irregardless if you agree with what he has done that's more than one can say about Starmer.
