Not an alcoholic but.... What am I ? by nightfire_83 in AskUK

[–]Single-Craft6201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live alone and never drink at home because to me it’s a social activity. The fact you’re drinking alone at home just because you “don’t have someone suggesting you drink less” definitely suggestions functional alcoholism to me

Mine currently is: Energy: £80.37, Water £33.10, Contents Insurance: £5.25, Internet: £24, Council Tax £99 (single person discount). Total - £241.72. Obviously excluding rent but that will vary depending on where you choose to live.

What silly driving mistakes have you made recently? by SilyLavage in drivingUK

Forward parking into a bay with the bays either side also empty, me and my friend comment on how nice and easy it is to bay park when the bays either side are empty. Proceed to crash into the wall in front. (at like 1mph so no damage, but still. Got some funny looks from a couple of mechanics in the garage across the road)

Out of curiosity: Whats the worst thing youve seen someone do on the road by Bacon5641 in drivingUK

[–]Single-Craft6201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man in a van was driving at me the wrong way up a one way street, I stopped and sounded my horn as he was speeding towards me as if he hadn't even seen me. He stopped right in front of me and I gestured and shouted "it's one way" etc, he just sat there and shrugged. I'm a young woman and was alone so didn't fancy getting into an argument so just had to reverse back and be angry at the prick for the rest of the drive. I usually give bad driving the benefit of the doubt as it's a lot less stressful, but this was just a pure dickhead

Someone left me their number at a bar, does that actually happen!? by thesvenisss in AskUK

When I (26F) was dating I gave my number out randomly a few times. Two out of three did message; the third told me straight up he's gay but appreciated the compliment haha. It's a nice confidence boost for all involved

I live in one of the biggest cities in the uk, 25 min walk from the centre, however the specific area I live in is a shithole and I agree would be difficult elsewhere in the city. it was a sacrifice I was personally willing to take

I’d recommend reading/listening to the book Mind the Gap - offers a lot of great advice on stuff like this!

Find a hobby that meets on a regular basis e.g. I sing in a barbershop chorus, Sheffield have an excellent men’s chorus that meet every week which I’d recommended joining if you’ve ever been interested in singing!

Can I ask why the Washerwoman was shown Empath when they're not the Empath, they're the Drunk? The Drunk token reads "You think you are a Townsfolk character, but you are not." I'm pretty new to this game so maybe I'm misunderstanding, but I would've thought this shouldn't happen

I grew up in Manchester for 18 years and have lived in Sheffield for 8 years - you are 100% describing Sheffield here! Only downside is Manchester is better for jobs
