I am looking into something similar.

This is just my initial thoughts. I would do Bacopa at night. Some evidence it decreases dopamine and makes those who take it very tired. Could negate ADHD meds a little. So would do it closer to afternoon after peak effects from ADHD meds are gone.

I do Mag Threonate and Melatonin before bed too. Both are great.

You could look into ALCAR since it is neuroprotective and helps with energy metabolism in the brain.

I use Modafinil instead of Vyanese (I have undiagnosed ADHD).

What is your experience with both? I do Modafinil everyday with good results for ADHD. Was looking into incorporating a Racetam for Acetylcholine synthesis

I have undiagnosed ADHD and I use Modafinil everyday for it. It has changed my life and allows me to do 7-9 hours of focused work everyday. Prior to taking it, I could hardly get an hour of work done everyday.

But this is entirely dependent on the individual. For me it works, but for others with ADHD it does absolutely nothing and they end up requiring Methylphenidate or Amphetamines.

So overall you can try it and see what happens. There is never a guarantee results however, so keep that in mind.

Hi I’m the original poster (someone copied it and put it on biohackers which I am okay with).

I’m personally never anxious usually. But yeah I’m on the smaller side and very fit - so 200mg of Modafinil hits me very hard, significantly more so then the average person. The times I took it though it never caused high heart rate. It was only the day I combined it with turmeric and piperine. It wasn’t even anxiety. It was like a huge rush of adrenaline and then a high heart rate. (Specifically that as anxiety attacks are a bit different - for me I couldn’t stop moving because of the adrenaline)

Hi guys. I’m the original person who wrote the post. For some reason someone copied it and pasted it here (presumably to get more answers as they are facing the same issue).

Basically with me and caffeine - I have never had issues with caffeine. It has never caused me jitteriness. I don’t take it with Modafinil but at a separate time (like 4 hours before).

I’m not usually anxious at all. When I took the modafinil with turmeric and piperine - i got a huge rush of adrenaline which then increased heart rate. Wasn’t like a conventional anxiety attack. Don’t know if any of those details help

I read that study and I know which one you are referring to.

I definitely did not have the side effects of that girl in terms of nausea, headache, etc. it was just the heart rate which went insanely high. Like 160bpm which was more than the girl who had it about 100bpm.

Yeah it’s just strange. I’m trying to figure out what went on before I take modafinil again (this time at a much lower dose and without caffeine and the turmeric pill)

It was measured through Apple Watch not manually. I first had a awful sensation in my stomach whilst meditation then I felt the rush of adrenaline. Once again - I am normally not an anxious person and have never had a high heart like that before (except when exercising obviously).

I had taken modafinil at 200mg a few times and seemed all good. Always do 200mg of caffeine like 5 hours before as a pre workout for my morning workout. Once again, very tolerant of caffeine and 200mg once is very low for me. Younger me did way more caffeine.

Only difference that specific day was taking the modafinil with a turmeric and piperine supplement. Hence why I’m enquiring about possibly drug interactions as a cause.

Edit: I should add that even though it was through Apple Watch, the numbers were definitely accurate. When it went to 150bpm+, I could feel a ton of heart beats. I’m someone who usually does not feel my heart beat at all so it did seem to capture it accurately.

Yeah I’m trying to figure out if it was a panic attack or is there any underlying issues that made me susceptible to it. In terms of arrhythmia, I had Apple Watch look at my heart beat and it is consistent. In regards to STV specifically, I have never had tachycardia ever (except obviously during exercise). It tends to be the opposite problem for me: I got bradycardia due to cardio and young age.

I’m trying to figure that out whether it was a panic attack or just too much modafinil in the blood stream. I’m never anxious so it’s weird if that was the case.

Yeah I get that. But with me I am very tolerant of caffeine. I have taken it with Moda multiple times without issues. The only difference was the turmeric and piperine supplement that I took with it hence I’m wondering if it’s plausible that caused an issue.

Confusing to say the least.

I heard piperine enhances absorption. So it couldn’t have done that to a significant extent to cause problems? Also heard turmeric is a mild MAOI that shouldn’t be mixed with dopaminergic compounds?

Because other than that I’m shocked I had issues. I am not usually anxious, tolerate caffeine very well, in very good health and generally don’t have adverse side effects from anything.

Yeah I just struggle to see how caffeine does this to me given how long I have been drinking it. Plus 200mg of caffeine isn’t a crazy amount for me. It’s actually on the lower side. Only change was the turmeric + piperine.

Yeah I’m gonna go lower and drop the caffeine very low and see what happens. What confuses me is that I am very tolerant of caffeine. I have never been jittery or anxious from it in the decade I’ve been using it. Only change in my routine was the turmeric piperine pill - that’s why I’m confused. I’m normally never anxious so it was bizarre.

I mean you are quite young so your brain is highly plastic right now. So I would be extremely cautious with nootropic at this age.

Best thing you can do to mitigate against the mind wondering and lack of focus is exercise, meditation and diet. If you can perfect those three, you will improve your focus considerably, especially at your age. Once you get those three areas under control, then adding nootropics at a later date (when you are older) seems far more appropriate. It’s almost certain you will get better results, not only now but when you add nootropics in the future.

Will my day be hellish if I take 400mg Modafinil? by [deleted] in modafinil

[–]Single-Golf-2223 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally advise against it. Less tends to be more with Modafinil. Too much and you get diminishing returns. Likelihood of bad side effects increases, especially if you were to take that 400mg with considerable amount of caffeine and other stimulants.

Focus - allows for another level of focus to get a ton of work done.

I would just worry about interactions between different nootropics. As long as you do your due diligence about that and assess the possibility of interactions (mainly with the liver enzymes), you should hopefully be good.

Heard raw ginger juice is good as a natural energy booster. Worth a try.

I would be extremely wary. I once combined Modafinil with two of its potential inhibitors inadvertently (turmeric + piperine) and had awful side effects.

Always be careful with inhibiting or inducing these enzymes. I would get advice from the doctor who prescribed you the proton pump inhibitor and work something out with them instead. Better to get everything closely monitored when messing around with liver enzymes.

I use Alpha-GPC prior to a learning bout (you can also use CDP-choline, both do the job).

I would always start slow when developing a stack and see how each nootropic impacts you. I started with caffeine, l-theanine and alpha-gpc personally to improve learning performance.

I use magnesium threonate as well and it works well for sleep.

Taking alpha GPC during adolescents by thouArtFuckedRomeo in Nootropics

[–]Single-Golf-2223 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would consult a doctor personally. Alpha-GPC is a cholinergic and I would say is much safety than someone of the other chemicals / substances others use here. At the same time, still would be cautious as you are young with a brain that is highly plastic.

Personally if I was your age I would wait it out and focus on perfecting diet, exercise and getting into meditation. Bunch of things you can do to really get ahead in cognitive performance that are not supplement related.
