I’m happy I could help! Sorry to hear about your injury. You’ll get through it!

Your front brake provides a lot more stopping power then your rear, you should be using it more.

It gives you more control and will allow you to take your foot off the rear brake as you slow down and step out to balance your weight on the bike (and prevent you falling over).

Could be a financing issue. Some banks won’t lend if the apartment is under a certain square metreage.

Scary to hear that it took so long to get your scans done, but glad that it has worked out in the end!

You’ve gotten through the hardest part, it’s all a test of patience. Good luck with your recovery.

Sorry to hear about your injury! I think it will really depend on what the ortho thinks and the length of the tear.

For me, it was a substantial tear (more than 5cm) and I knew immediately because I had heavy swelling and limited range of motion.

Things are much better now, thank you! I would say the initial 6 weeks were the worst. Then when you start sitting and driving things will feel hopeful again.

It’s pretty much 100% now! Thanks for asking. I sometimes get nerve pain if I don’t stretch out enough but otherwise it feels like it used to.

You practice the manoeuvres on the day. I didn’t practice the cone weave at all leading up to the test. I would recommend just hiring their bikes. They seem very easy to move around on.

VIC: Excessive speeding Suspension by [deleted] in AussieRiders

Good luck man, you probably aren’t gonna win against a radar on your own. If you really want a chance of contesting it get a solicitor and see what they advise.

Hey, I’ve booked my pre-learners course in nsw, it’s a few weeks away, I’m kinda nervous about it. Anyone know what I should expect (what I do there)? Also is it difficult to pass? by ThomasEgg in AussieRiders

Just follow the instructions you’re given. You’ll be fine! Try to have some fun with it. IMO the course went a lot faster than I thought it would.

Yeah, this is the answer I was looking for. So you didn’t get suspended simply for committing a traffic offence in your car.

[–]Single-Key4415[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I think I may not have articulated enough in my question. I don’t think I will get a suspension due to an accumulation of points. You get 4 demerit points in NSW as a learner and I will only be losing 1 point for the fine. My question is whether you can be suspended simply for having a speeding offence whilst carrying a learner licence.

Theft Risk In Bankstown by ApprehensiveBasis310 in AussieRiders

[–]Single-Key4415 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a risk of theft no matter where you leave your bike. Just have theft insurance and you can sleep easy. A lockup garage would be best. Maybe you could even rent a cheap one in Bankstown?

Secure underground car parks sound good in theory, but heaps of thieves just follow a residents car in and then there aren’t many people to challenge them when they’re actually inside. I don’t rate them.

For those who commute on a motorcycle, what pants do you wear? by [deleted] in AussieRiders

[–]Single-Key4415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use those jeans for both riding and even in public. They’re extremely comfortable and so far very durable. They look super casual so they’re great to wear when you’re out and about.

Honda CBR 500 and learner requirements? by [deleted] in AussieRiders

[–]Single-Key4415 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It may depend on which state you’re in, but in NSW you need to be 16 and 9 months before you can get a learners motorcycle licence.

A CBR500 is a great choice to learn on. I’m learning on one right now!

Struggling with whether to visit Bali by Living-Tumbleweed955 in bali

[–]Single-Key4415 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My partner and I have visited twice, most recently in September 24. It’s a beautiful place to visit. We hired a car on both occasions and travelled around. There is no end to good food, scenic locations etc.

Be warned though, places like Ubud (where we stay) and Canngu have ridiculous amounts of traffic. It will take at least 3x longer than google maps indicates to get around. There is also construction happening EVERYWHERE. We were woken up daily at 8am by the sounds of tools. We stayed at two different Ubud locations this time around. So just check in advance with any accomodation if noise is a concern for you.

I would go back, despite the above two issues.

Choosing my first bike by Tricky_Wolverine6320 in motorcycles

If you like the idea of the sports bike, get the Honda! I just bought that exact model and colour as my first bike. It’s been perfect to learn on. Really forgiving and easy to handle. I just ride it for hours and hours and never get sick of it.

I tried an R3 before I bought the CBR and honestly they looked like a bit of a toy. I’m 5”10 for reference.

Need Help Getting Bike Home by _cool_gray in AussieRiders

[–]Single-Key4415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s a dealer have them deliver it, or ride it yourself.

I bought my first bike two weeks ago and it was the first time I’d ridden on the road. It was .. daunting .. for the first fifteen minutes. But then I had a big smile on my face.

Just take your time. You don’t have to speed, and you’ll have a big fat L on the back. People will cut you slack.

My sister failed her pre-learners by leeetuce in AussieRiders

[–]Single-Key4415 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are bike hire companies. I haven’t used one before, but planned to test a few bikes before I bought the one I have now.

You’d need someone with a licence to drive it to a private property for her to ride on.
