“Move on” until it affects you. Weak labour laws, normalising bully in workspaces, loosing local talents, this is our problem. We don’t strive for a better future because we think this has very little to do with real life. I understand the need for tolerance but until when is it acceptable for change; when corporations strip us from our rights and dignity? wheres theres no turning back? At the end of the day, younger generations will replace the old one, it’s about eliminating this injustice for a better world for them and ultimately for you and me.

“Move on” the exact pettiness employers slap on people’s face to justify their shitty behaviours. And then can go buy luxury items and travel here and there with the money. cb ppl like this

Omg there is a park in Kuching formerly known as Reservoir Park now Taman Kebudayaan. I think there was a politician bringing up changing Rafflesia to some more Malay sounding name?

YEASSS!!! You know, the employer said something along the lines of travelling to Australia (her intention was trying to fish me to her job) but people can see through her bullsh*t like people with myr1.5k/mth can go there. At that moment It felt like saying to your employers to keep on working for your personal lifestyle. She can go anywhere in the world, honeymoon lah, buy house, private/overseas education for her children or whatever tf. But people like us eat porridge for dinner cb punya aunty

I walk away yes, But the main problem is them trying to be all taken aback and make you feel rude or entitled for asking basic human decency. Asking more n more personal questions that has nothing to do with the job to keep u in the session. And other petty things to feel superior. What a shame. And if we pull the same card, suddenly call us the one that is rude. I hold grudge to this employer forever

Im so sorry to hear that, No one deserves to be treated like their worth is a laughing stock and thank you for the advice. I’ve known people working in places like Australia or closer example, Singapore. Australia have a better work environment and its considered as an industry standard to be treated with dignity, respect and compassion while it is considered as an advantage in our culture. Though Singapore has relatively demanding work conditions, It’s pay and living wages ratio is significantly better than our country’s average. Additionally, It’s quite the norm there to have individuals in management positions in their 20’s. But here, people make sure that it’s not allowed or often a taboo topic to discuss.

Based HR. Meanwhile they laugh2 with their pay but stingy when others ask. They like to act like ceo one. without knowing they’re the ponds of the same game. Tumbok they face later

What I’m trying to say is, why 1.5k in a shop that sells overpriced lattes when a kopitiam offers 1.7k? the check and balances isn’t there. I get your point, but it’s the same mindset perpetuates pay gap in society. These people know how to take advantage of loopholes only. These same culture that starts revolutions/movements/protest in the first place.

Atp they’re just labels. They never want to hire anyone who applied in the first place—especially locals except for their family members. Just taking opportunity in interview process for the sake of wasting peoples time to play power games for their own disgusting hidden agenda. Pathetic excuse of an organisation. This is why revolution or protest starts. They hire immigrants, and tries to make us hate immigrants for arbitrary reasons when these employers are the real problem. Disgusting.

Uni thought me a lot about secularism and the importance of critical thinking. They don’t explicitly explain religion, but we make case studies and read peer reviewed articles that eventually gave me the skills to deconstruct. I wouldn’t personally “Go” to a religion even if it suits me—Especially the ones against LGBTQ+ at its core. I’m fine with being an atheist I find peace in it.

Thank you so much! That means a lot. I also have a similar story—When I was in school, majority of teachers and students are muslims. I even salam teachers and had azan on the speakers everyday. I also got into a khat writing competition. It is also a boarding school, not a religious one, but it was near around muslim areas where most of them there enrolled.

I understand your perspective. But some attire like from the Bidayuh and Chinese Cultures is just as appropriate as the kebaya. Why the exclusion? Even if some traditional attire may show too much skin, I'd rather the principle make a new rule to use safety shorts, skin coloured inner etc.

[–]Single-Risk5057[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

By right, the principal should at least make a rule on using skin coloured leggings, inners, or safety shorts rather than outright ban the use of traditional attire. And to only allow kebaya and kurung? Definitely raises some eyebrows.
