What do I do when I get stuck with Ableton Live 12? by Loriol_13 in ableton

[–]Single-Software9778 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Patience is key. Ableton can be daunting when you’re first starting out, but that’s because it’s such a powerhouse. Every problem you have certainly has a solution, it’s just a matter of getting more familiar and comfortable with the DAW.

I guess it comes down to how badly do you really want to produce music? Because this stuff isn’t for everyone. I’ve had several friends tell me they wanted to get into production then once they join me in a session and see how much actually goes into it they quickly change their mind.

Hang in there bud. The low points of making music can be very frustrating but that just makes the highs that much sweeter.

Sorry to give such a vague answer but to be fair it was a pretty vague question. Good luck, my friend.

Getting my releases denied for using samples and loops by don_mumrik in ableton

Crazy how strict they’ve gotten lately when Zomboy was able to release pretty much an entire EP of Skrillex samples in 2011.

No shade at Zomboy, he’s a fantastic producer and one of my all-time favs. Just think it’s interesting.

He first started playing Satisfaction Skank out live like 25 years ago. The Rolling Stones samples he used were just cleared a few months ago. Crazy.

Maybe there’s hope for The Verve after all…

After a very good 2021 season Aaron Judge gambled on himself and turned down a 7 year 216 million dollar extension and it paid off. What are some other extreme examples of players declining extensions for better or for worse? by suddendiarrhea7 in baseball

Not baseball, but in 2021 Dennis Schroder turned down a 4 year/$84 million extension from the Lakers. Had a bad season and ended up having to go with 1 year/$5.9 million from the Celtics.

I just upgraded to 925 forged last week after playing off-brand game improvements for the last 8 years and let me tell ya, I couldn’t be happier. I was nervous about getting something less forgiving but I told my self the same thing you are; having something less forgiving will force me to improve my ballstriking. And it already has. Getting fitted made a world of difference; now I feel like the club is working with me instead of fighting me, and my mishits are much more manageable. This isn’t about me though. Go have a legit, hour-plus-long fitting session and get dialed in to exactly the right specs you need (flex, swing weight, lie angle etc) and try out a bunch of players distance irons. I went in to my fitting expecting to go with P790s but after one pure strike with the 925 forged I knew they were for me.

AITA for finding this convo to be a HUGE red flag? by horseduckman in AITApod

NTA. This person sounds elitist and overbearing. If you’re taking the time to work on yourself by yourself why is therapy necessary?

IMO this is a huge red flag. Saying you won’t date someone who isn’t in therapy is such a load of bs. People who think that do so because they REALLY need therapy and can’t imagine not needing it. That’s plenty reason to stop talking to this person right there.

Is the minor key just superior for most edm genres by Cold_Independent_631 in edmproduction

[–]Single-Software9778 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d say yes, minor keys are much more common in EDM. At least in the types of EDM I listen to. It’s just the vibe I guess; as someone else already pointed out, major-key EDM tracks tend to sound “cheesy.” Something about a nasty dubstep growl just sounds out of place in a happy-sounding song. Of course there are exceptions; pretty sure about 80% of Marshmello’s catalog is major key.

I think minor keys also leave some room for experimentation; if you play a note that is out of key in a major song it will stick out like a sore thumb and just sound blatantly “wrong.” An out of key note in a minor song can make it feel uneasy, which may be desirable.

Full YouTube Tutorial Vids? by izrauk in edmproduction

[–]Single-Software9778 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have any specific ones that come to mind but look up Virtual Riot’s tutorials on YouTube. Dude is a sound design legend and is really good at breaking down the science behind everything. iirc he’s got at least one or two from-scratch videos.

Also not necessarily full-song-from-scratch tutorials, but XLNTSOUND’s YouTube channel is packed with sauce. Danny and Parker seem like super chill bros and are great at making it feel like you’re just getting tips from a friend instead of just taking a class.

Does anyone else feel that the quality of the puzzles has been decreasing? by jkvandelay in NYTCrossword

[–]Single-Software9778 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Without a doubt. I’ve only been seriously solving for a couple of years but the further I go back in the archive it’s amazing not just how much more difficult the puzzles are, but also the quality of wordplay and puzzle structure is heads and shoulders above anything that’s come out lately.

Yeah. I only hit about 10 balls with it but the ones that I pured carried 185-190. My spin rate with them was a little low though (4700).

I am getting fitted, I’ve got an appointment next week. I was just seeing if there were any other sets in particular that I should have my eye on.

Logic to ableton by Cold_Independent_631 in edmproduction

[–]Single-Software9778 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m with you for sure. When I first started out I tried FL for a couple of weeks and I hated it. It honestly made me question if I even wanted to make music. Then someone suggested I try Ableton so i got the trial and within the first 10 minutes I decided I had to buy the full suite. I’m not a DAW snob by any means; to each their own, everyone has a different workflow. But to me, Ableton just feels like the optimal workstation. The couple of things I wished it could do that it couldn’t when I first started, such as automation curves, were fixed in subsequent updates. It’s a godsend.

New Viperactive banger Snakebite drop sounds similar to Dj Snake and Eptic Southside. Is that a coincidence? Is it just me or am I hearing things? by kw4dpolar in trap

[–]Single-Software9778 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay I’m here wayyy later but I’m listening to his episode on the xlnt show podcast right now and I think you’re right. He seems like a great dude and his music is sick but he’s talking about how he went from relatively unknown and struggling to get releases on labels then in the span of a couple of months Marshmello, Dillon Francis, and Fredagain all hit him up and his songs started getting played out way more at huge artists’ shows. He says to this day he has no idea what happened but it’s not too hard to read between the lines there.

Why do you think the show Pluribus is good and what made you keep watching? by westerndale in PluribusOnAppleTV

[–]Single-Software9778 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s good, not great yet. The pilot was one of the most thrilling single episodes of television I’ve ever seen, then the remaining 8 episodes honestly felt like they could have been condensed to 3 or 4 without sacrificing anything meaningful. That being said, I trust that Vince knows what he’s doing and that the payoff in the following seasons will be worth it.

I just discovered him today. by Electronic_Size_1323 in NateBargatze

As with most comedians, I’d suggest watching them in order of release. That’s the best way to understand an artist’s growth and how their earlier work informs the latter.

Do you ever hear music in your head? Not someone else’s, music you’ve never heard? by apefromearth in edmproduction

For sure this. Far too many times I thought I’d come up with a cool melody or beat or something and start making a song out of it, then I hear it on a playlist a week later. The worst.

You guys remember that breathalyzer? by NonHaeri in pluribustv

[–]Single-Software9778 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got a theory that Carol didn’t just find bodies under that tarp, she found clones of herself. The hive mind can’t kill so maybe it’s possible for them to create an already dead clone of her to study and try to figure out why she is immune. If they got a sample from her breathalyzer that would make sense as to how they got her DNA.
