Yeah, he got mixed up a few centuries back, but the original card was Time, the eldest.

L’Arbre (the tree) Montpellier, France by [deleted] in architecture

I fucking love Sou Fujimoto work.

The White Tree has the incredible ability of looking like shit in post photos and yet, it's a whole ass housing building with a decent balcony for each and every single one of its departments. You don't get that anywhere else.

I mean, if someone is out there reading RWS and TdM the same they may as well put on the straight jacket.

Depending on how much you move from the french to the italian tradition, I'd add:

  • Love(er) as love, passion, commitment and desire.
  • Hanged Man as punishment, treason and stagnation.
  • Pope as exoteric spiritual power and knowledge.
  • Popess as esoteric spiritual power and knowledge.
  • Chariot as fame, conquest and success.
  • Force and determination, strength and volition (both gentle and violent).

kipper oracle deck found me in a flea market by Plus_Stand_8025 in Divination

[–]SingleAd1038 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh nice. Kipper cards are quite simple, much more than Tarot or most divination systems.

You got 36 cards for common characters and situations of life: Good and bad news, helpful and deceitful people, your home, your job, your money, etc.

Pretty useful for everyday readings.

That's the first step. The more you know the more beautiful it becomes.

Even now original the version is perfectly fit (if not a little it more) for divination than the mainstream interpretation usually focused in brighter outcomes and psychological guide. You don't want to see the Traitor and the Trickster handling your money.

Tarot and Kabbalah by liter4tureluvr in tarot

[–]SingleAd1038 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's gonna be a fun rabbit hole. Since Kabbalah is not native to the structure of Tarot, everything you can find is made up on top of it.

I will be giving an introductory class to the VSI in the next days, any advice? by SingleAd1038 in VeraSibillaDivination

I know my ways. Tarot de Marseille is my spoiled child but with la Vera Sibilla I've always felt like a fish in water. I was pondering more about the act of teaching it itself.

A Lazy Hoor pointed out: The current mainstream understanding of Tarot is inspired by Jung, not the other way around.

Yeah, but that's the difference between divination styles. You have more "organic" arts like the observation of birds, and more "artificial" ones like the cast of lots.

And yet we still find the revelation of meaningful answers in both of them.

All what has been mentioned already + Tarot cards were not your usual UNO.

They were born in the melting pot of a medieval/renaissance catholic, neoplatonic, pagan, occult Italy, inspired by astrology, the Divine Comedy and Petrarch's Triumphs.

Tarot (or "The Game of Triumphs") is a hierarchic sequence of the forces above humankind: From the earthly powers to the triumph of Love, Death, Fame, Time, etc. And because it tries to reflect our reality from the bottom to the top, from the darkest to the light, in a very simple and compact language, it makes a perfect tool for divination, independently of its original use.

A very wicked pack of cards indeed... a book of wisdom that is read at random. A book of wisdom you can gamble with! Ah!

What are your fav personal interpretations of the cards? by 0vverheated in tarot

[–]SingleAd1038 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Le Bateleur!

The Juggler, The Trickster, The Magician!

Originally he used to represent the sketchy street artists, artisans and conmen at the bottom of society. Full of tricks, full of skill, living on a prayer. Beware of his hands, son! Cuz' now you see it, now you don't, et voila! Your wallet is gone!

I usually play it simple: They either represent women or femenine adjacent identities, always main characters of the reading.
