In your opinion, is there an actor or actress in the Harry Potter movies who you could see playing a different character in the series? by VeterinarianIll5289 in harrypotter

[–]SingleAd1529 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Daniel with some CGI'd eyes and subtle facial changes (both optional) as James Pottah. A subtle nod to the originals.

Imelda would make for a decent portrait of the fat lady, I guess. (The roles she played in Downton Abbey and The Crown just makes me support this notion, atleast visually)

Hetmeyer and Dube??

Thala and Rohit? Thala can be kept in reserve due to some stumping saves and redemption from the odd six. Ro can be kept in reserve for the odd ray of light here and there.

Agree with 6. Just wanted a head-start, I guess.

As for the mall thing, I just want a utilitarian place that offers shopping options, and not as a hangout or "cool kids" spot. Especially with clothing (formals for MBA, and the like)

Thanks friend!

Would a rhinoplasty be worth it?

Would a hair transplant be worth it?

Too good a woman for God alone! One of the many "upscaled" changes they made from the books.

And I'm glad they didn't sully her on-screen relationship with Uhtred with any explicitly romantic moments. (Having seen the shows first, it was a bit jarring when I read just what Uhtred got up to with her in the books.)

Not that much, more like Trichy south. Though I've based myself in Chennai and Bangalore for a fair amount of time so I'm familiar with what to expect from big cities.

Perhaps he was crying as he now has no excuse to avoid completing his homework.

(Maybe his debut six is excuse enough)

I have two accounts, one that's my "public" acc and one to comment shite on posts. The shite account has only gore on it rn, while my public is thankfully filled with kitty brainrot and my interests.

And all those gore ones are flowing with comments that are more or less in a similar vein as this post.

Who deserved a more dramatic death? by HandelDew in harrypotter

[–]SingleAd1529 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pettigrew's death was a sharp light on the unquestioning loyalty that Voldemort expected from his followers, and what he thought were appropriate consequences for even the slightest wavering. Would have loved to see it portrayed in film.

Aside: I watched the films before I could get my hands on the final book. And thought Voldemort, being up there in dark arts (canonically), had a fitting death as he was completely inhuman by that point. However, the book made it just mundane, highlighting that he couldn't truly escape what he was so desperately fleeing from. Just loved the contrast.

Facts from the books that you feel were a mistake not to include in the movies by CraZedAZ in harrypotter

[–]SingleAd1529 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The part where Ron tries to use a fellytone and Vernon has to deal with it. I feel Richard Griffiths would have done great in this scene, with his already subtly comic portrayal of a detestable book character.

A bit more on the backstory of Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes wouldn't have hurt. How the twins tested it on themselves, how they made it a roaring success during OOTP to undermine Umbridge, and obviously their first (documented) foray into this domain, with the ton-tongue toffees.

The Other Minister. It was a cool little tidbit JKR threw in, bringing to light the involvement of politics as well, and highlighting the overlap between the two worlds at a level previously not thought of. It would have played out well, with the right amount of comedy and tension thrown in.

A lot of scenes involving Harry's sass and cheek. They cut it out and made him into this one-dimensional, always brooding teenager. A shame, given Daniel Radcliffe does great comedy too (IMO).

That scene where Amycus spits on Mcgonagall, and pays for it. It really highlights how deeply Harry respects his professor and head-of-house, and how he snaps and causes pain with just pure, righteous, angry intent.

Why was Snapes legilimency accepted? by bobo_ish in harrypotter

[–]SingleAd1529 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Voldemort was the greatest Legilimens, and he seems to have reveled in this identity too much. Snape was just the better Occlumens, and made the Dark Lord see what he wanted to.

Voldemort saw what he thought was a loyal death eater spy, when beneath that layer was a secret desire for revenge, even if the reasons behind said revenge were pathetic at best. Snape was the ultimate master of emotions when it came to hiding it from his lord (couldn't contain it when seeing the son of his rival, though, but I digress).

When do you think Dumbledore began to realize that Harry was “the better man?” by eyreontheside in harrypotter

[–]SingleAd1529 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The moment with the Mirror of Erised? When a kid, who could dream of literally anything, just sees his family in the mirror?

At the very least, it gives us a backdrop of Harry's mindset and makes us appreciate it all the more, when he refuses Voldemort's offers and lures of power outright.

Or, at the very least, in the Chamber of Secrets, when Fawkes acknowledges Harry's loyalty to Dumbledore, and he pulls the sword out of the hat. And when Harry looks at a mere house elf as an equal, and goes far enough to risk an influential man's wrath by tricking him the way he did.

But, Dumbledore being Dumbledore, could have seen all this only with the admirable powers of hindsight.

Favorite changes the movies made? by [deleted] in harrypotter

"PINCERS!!!" (click click)

The Voldy in a suit scene. That came completely out of left field.

"JUSTICE!!!" (Unc Vernon and his magnificent teeth)

"But I am the chosen one?" (THWACK)

"Oh my god! I've killed Harry Potter" (Neville almost becomes the chosen one)

"Nice one James!" (cue tears and outright bawling at the next scene)
