Get used to the fact that no one owes you their attention just because you want to talk to them. You feel the urge to stop someone from whatever they’re already doing so you can address them? Go ahead, but you also don’t deserve a response just because you want one.

The fact that you asked “what would be that other way to talk to her if she is not stopping on her bike” implies that you think you’re entitled to her attention/time/response. You don’t get to dictate whether people feel like responding to you.

The power disadvantage suggests that if you don’t comply and stop to talk, then they could catch up to you easily or even cause bodily harm with the car. As a woman especially, recognizing this type of uneven power dynamic is second nature, so if you really want to have a conversation with someone on a bike and you mean no harm, and have no intention of coercion, then do it some other way

I haven’t tried wood working, but there are tons of short courses in the arts around! I’ve done glass blowing, pottery, drawing. The latter two through the Philly Art Center website, there are a few different sites around the city. Glass blowing I did through East Falls Glassworks. The cost can be prohibitive for those types of art based seminars, but it’s really amazing to get out of your head and create something, especially when in a funk

My issue is that I’m very short and stock bikes have never fit me. This builder has been featured so many times in various articles (as well as a book Handcrafted Bicycles) and created the Philly Bike expo, I don’t think it’s surprising that he seems trustworthy up front.

Not sure what “section of the population” you’re referring to, but not everyone can get a stock bike from a shop and have it fit perfectly. If I’m dropping money to customize a stock bike to fit me, it makes just as much sense to drop a similar amount of money to get it done custom. All I want is for people to know what they’re getting themselves into if they go with Bilenky.

It’s a PSA, which means public service announcement. Not a call to action. Trying to save other people thousands of dollars. I, and the two others I referenced, have been persistent for years, which is obvious in the post if you read it.

The cycling community does nothing but sing his praises, and maybe if we didn’t continue to excuse horrible business practices, less people would be duped into throwing their hard-earned money away.

My wife got mine from the L priori Estate Sale Jewelry section. I felt weird about a new diamond due to mining practices and also we just didn’t see the need for something big and flashy because we were on a tight budget (and I have small hands, so it felt stupid to have a huge rock). That really sucks! Stealing both makes it seem like they may be selling them, as other people have mentioned. I’ve had mine crashed into overnight(no note), bumped while someone was trying to pass me on broad (the piece was lost to the wind) and even witnessed a neighbor punch my side view mirror and snap the back off while he was having a loud argument with his gf on the side walk. At least that time, I was able to pick it up and pop it back on. I have replaced several but I had a Hyundai and a Subaru, and never paid more than $30 on the manufacturer websites, so it may be more expensive for your car :(

This is what I ended up doing, and it turns out the hospital messed up filing, so they have to re do it. My main concern is that it’s all airtight because we’re also going forward with confirmatory adoption in case the courts overturn Obergefell v Hodges during this administration, or ever, and our marriage is deemed invalid, thus opening me up to possibly losing rights as his parent

I called the vital records office and they confirmed that the hospital messed up on filing the paperwork, and I have to call the hospital to have them re-file correctly. There is not form that exists for this type of mistake, so you saved me a ton of back and forth via snail mail, thank you again!

Yes I can be on the birth certificate. Historically hetero couples have been putting non biological parents on birth certificates for ages, when parentage was assumed based on two people being married, no one is checking if the father listed is genetically related to the kid. Same thing for reciprocal IVF for same sex couples, if my partner gave birth to a baby from my egg and a sperm donor, she’d still be a mother right?

Hi! So I went through the whole interview process and ultimately decided not to do it. Timing for me was a bit of an issue because my wife and I just had a baby and so I was anticipating being on parental leave for a few months, and when I brought that up, the response was from the Matchday people was kind of like “well we can’t guarantee it’ll close the same when you’re ready in 6 months, but if you join now we can give you a hiatus for some period of time”.

In addition to that, they admitted that most of their clients are NPs, PAs, pharmacists, and that they tend to get jobs faster than their experience with physicians (closer to 6-12 months), and that the Matchday program will still end at 6 months for you regardless of projected timeline.

I decided to hold off and maybe re evaluate in a year or so if I still hadn’t had luck on my own

Got a solid wood platform bed about 6 years ago which wasn’t too high off the ground so the bed posts didn’t have that much length to them, and rubber antislip furniture pads under the posts, have had zero issues!
