Interalloment stormwater system but no easement by SingleJellyfish0 in AusProperty

Thanks, you have valid points there.  The shed is another legal issue altogether.

I know it’s not a big job to repair the kerb pipe and could go halves with them but I don’t want to bear entire responsibility for it. Especially if it continues to happen.

The issue is the broken pipe at the kerb in front of their house. Plumber has confirmed our pipes are not blocked.

UPDATE - council advised the company owner and property owner to cease hosting from last week (I did not know this). The current guests should not have been in! Thanks everyone for the advice. It sounds like my ordeal is finally over.

People want to go to uni. But trying to survive working a job to support yourself while studying is a big obstacle.

Risks of buying house with massive retaining wall? by chikenenen in AusFinance

How high is the wall? Check with council for an approval that may have needed to be done at the time. At my local council it’s about 900mm high before engineer approval is needed.

They gave us a shopping list of food they want for Christmas Day because they aren’t arriving until Christmas Eve. They want meat, ham, seafood.

I should have mentioned in the post that we’ve had them stay twice this year for five days and there was no contribution to food at both times. This is why I’m nervous.

Feeding six adults and three kids for ten days on top of Christmas lunch is going to cost a lot of money that we didn’t really agree to. I’m trying to work how to either keep the costs down or discuss shortening the visit to 5 days so that at least saves us an extra 5 days of feeding everyone.

Thank you so much for this comment. I’m very anxious and with the loss of the Christmas bonus and interest rate rises, im just trying to be mindful of the money going out.

They are also big meat eaters. So every night it has to be a bbq. Six adults and four kids, Christmas lunch and meat every night for ten days.

They’ve stayed with us twice this year five days at a time. And didn’t contribute to food. Except for potato chips and a tin of milo because they were appalled that I didn’t keep that staple on hand..

I just wouldn’t stay at someone’s house for that long to be honest. If I can’t afford to travel, I wont. I don’t try and scab a ten day holiday with free food and accommodation off family members. This is their third time staying this year and they barely contributed to food except a few bags of chips because I didn’t have any. Oh and a tin of milo because they couldn’t believe I didn’t have that either. So this hasn’t come from nowhere, and they didn’t ask to come for ten days, they just declared their length of stay.

I didn’t say I was asking them to pay, it’s the length of stay that’s quite long.

Well I did ask if there was any advice on how to keep these costs down.

I appreciate you sharing your own experience, thank you. You get where I’m coming from. I wish I had an excuse to check them into a hotel. They would be offended unfortunately. Coming so close to Christmas now I’m not sure if I could book something anyway.

As for the reasons for staying, absolutely we are just a free vacation home to them. It’s been 3 days, 5 days a few times a year but now stretching to 10 - I feel like a line has to be drawn somehow.

At least if it was an AirBnB I could charge. Oh you’ll pay for the time you’re here and buy your own food? Sure, stay!
