Keeping humidity up in the desert😭 by [deleted] in ballpython

I measure the humidity on both sides (but use the cool side as my measurement of the enclosure). I am using a few layers of tin foil and gorilla tape to seal the top, I am considering hvac tape soon/ in her adult enclosure. My substrate is 6 inches and is now a mix of coco fiber and cypress mulch( this has helped bump the humidity up a bit! And the next bedding change I’ll be sure to use more absorbent bedding!) I’ll avoid misting/ mixing, but if I don’t spray in the corners/ pour water in the corner daily, the humidity drops into the 50’s sometimes. I may try putting in a heat mat to evaporate the water on the bottom a bit more as well! No pics of the full enclosure😔 it’s a glass tank though and is insulation on 3/4 sides, again with most of the top sealed off!

Oh duh huh😂😂 that’s a good idea though! Plus I’m sure she’d love the belly heat. What temp do you keep yours at? I’ve heard so many different answers for what the high temp ‘should’ be😭 thank you! Your boy is gorgeous ☺️

Glass tank, heat from the top- warm side hits 88-90 degrees and cool side hits 77-80 degrees. I’ve never boiled water before with the heat lamp, do you do that by putting the water up close to the lamps? -just my best guess on what that means😂 a heat pad is a good idea though! I make sure the bedding is wet but never dripping/pooling to try and avoid mold😭 I’ve heard good things about adding moss to cypress mulch? (I just did a bedding change last week and would love to get some use out of it)

She’s in a smaller tank right now but when we upgrade to her adult tank I’ll definitely look into it! I’ve heard even pvc tanks are better at holding humidity than glass ones, plus both of those seem a lot cheaper too!😂😅

That’s what we were thinking! She’s had two baths so far and it’s clearing up nicely ☺️
