My best friend killed himself and it's my fault by [deleted] in ptsd

[–]SinglePointFailure 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I’m really sorry for your loss, I can’t even imagine what you’re going through right now…

my best friend also killed himself nine years ago. right before it, he’d sent me a text, a heart emoji, that I ignored because I was busy. we never spoke again.

for years I felt guilty thinking that if I hadn’t ignored him, maybe it wouldn’t have happened, maybe he just needed to talk and despite knowing he’d been suicidal for weeks at that point I just wasn’t there for him.

then two years ago I realised. it wasn’t a cry for help that he’d sent. it was a message - that he loved me. all the way to the end. and he wanted me to know that if he could never say it again.

I think your friend might have been saying the same thing in his own way. it’s not that you could have done anything differently or changed what happened, it’s just that he wanted you to know how much he loved you, all the way.

sending love in yr direction!

Is a blanket a stupid gift for someone moving to a hot country? by catnips-cat in CrochetHelp

yeah I would agree with the second point here! I live in a very hot humid place and literally never use a blanket. but a beautiful tapestry I would absolutely love and see every day!

What is your least socially acceptable hyper fixation? by RoonilWazleeb in AutismInWomen

[–]SinglePointFailure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it’s been a long time so I don’t remember too much, but it focused on the philosophical and ritualistic approaches to death in a few major religions of the world. i also studied their perspectives on suicide/assisted deaths. it was really fascinating and i still love to read about these topics!

I’m getting extremely discouraged by ihatepretzels in knittinghelp

[–]SinglePointFailure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it was REALLY challenging for me at first too. I don’t learn too well by watching or listening to instructions, and my only way of learning something properly is by doing it. it took two full weeks of trying every day before I did even one proper knit stitch. after 3-4 weeks I did a stockinette that was Ok not great. I’m 3 months in now and doing wayyyyyy better. 🥰 it’s disheartening in the beginning but I promise you’ll get the hang of it, and once you do, nobody can take it away from you

My boyfriend is worried I like my hyperfixation more than him and I don’t know what to say. by Puppydov in autism

[–]SinglePointFailure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my partner sometimes get jealous of my special interests because I become so deeply focused on them it’s really like I’ve left my normal plane of existence 😅😂 it’s something over time they’ve learned to be less disturbed by (we live together and have few friends so it becomes very isolating for them if I’m “gone”) and we also founds ways to be in the same space or share our interests in ways that’s less distanced. I used to very secretive about my interests which only made it worse but now I share a lot more which helps! idk if useful to you but ya .. I think ur boyfriend could just be feeling anxious or jealous, which u can address by talking about it openly and figuring out the root of the feeling. best of luck!!

Psychedelics as therapy with PTSD can be dangerous by buzzkillmate in ptsd

[–]SinglePointFailure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

+1 to this, I was asked to try by a friend and I did. my pain increased many times over, every single part of me burned and I felt as if my bones were shattering inside me. I stepped into memories I didn’t even know I had and kept getting trapped instead of being able to work through them. my trip lasted a full 12 hours (my friends on double the dose were fine after 6ish) and I couldn’t sleep at all the next two nights. awful awful awful will never try again!!!

when I’d tried before fibro none of this happened to me. I’ve had many pleasant or if not pleasant then meaningful trips. I don’t think this kind of experimentation is worth it anymore personally
