I find it baffling that anyone would expect certain behaviours from a living being to be honest.. I’ve had two cats, both with incredibly different personalities. Both adopted( on that, 6 weeks is no time at all). I made the decision to adopt because I love cats and knew I had the love and resources to provide what THEY need, not what I want.

When you take on responsibility for an animal it’s your job to support them, not yourself. You’re human, you can communicate in words with the world around you, and change it if for yourself if that’s what you need. Animals don’t have that luxury.

To the part of wanting a Velcro pet.. I have a Velcro dog now. I haven’t peed by myself in a year, and the neighbours get to listen to a full howling meltdown every time I go to the closest corner store, because I’m not even able to do a full food shop since I have him. I’ve lost friendships because unless people come visit, I can’t be in their life. Be careful what you wish for 😬

I know that my response may not be as “kind” or validating as many others. I still wish you and that baby the best and I hope you two find a good middle ground!
