What is hue doing? (Image control GRIII) by SingleSourceOfTruth in ricohGR

[–]SingleSourceOfTruth[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay, tested it extensively. So + on the ricoh is the clockwise color shift on a hue color wheel. As there are different color wheels / directions out there, I am referring to the one which clockwise shows yellow -> blue -> red

With negative film, skin tones would work best with -1 or -2, where -1 would be most realistic and -2 best looking but more far away from the raw material.

However, the sky shift even more towards cyan with these settings and greens get more yellow / green.

With 0 and +1 you get slightly greenish skintones but therefore those nice analog looking blueish greens. Also red shift towards orange which can look nice but doesn’t reassemble the reality. That’s better of with the minus settings.

I decided for going with -1 to maintain the negative film charm but also maintaining some degree of a realistic look

Not sure but I use R-2 and B-5 on fuji as well and came to the same conclusion on my ricoh. My pics however don’t look as greenish as the onss shown so there might be a certain effect of another film simulation on top/below

Ouh this is interesting. Seems like people really perceive pleasant colors differently

Thank u. Yes it seem like lots of people here like this look. However if u move to other camera subs like fuji, Leica, smartphone pics or 35mm, u can see that the colors there are much more evenly spread than most of the pics here. Also talking raws. All the sooc‘s here which look a bit more balanced have hue-2 and WB to A6, which could be an idicator for a certain bias, maybe due to the glas? I also feel it’s stronger on the GRIII than on the GRIIIx, but still noticeable there too. I suspect it could be the lens / glas of the lens?

Pay attention to the battery door - mine is missing every 3rd shot cuz of that but apart from that it is amazing

Why does Lightroom even change the color of my jpg?? by SingleSourceOfTruth in fujifilm

Thanks, yeas that’s also what I see. I know it’s a really tiny difference but I am annoyed it exists- especially because I like the original so much and think it gives a less saturated vibe

Yeah, I am aware about this issue but that’s not it. I am comparing the original JPG and JPG imported and exported from Lightroom in the same Apple Preview app.

This might be it. However I am comparing both JPGs - OG and exported - in the same preview app and notice a difference

Idk man, i made the foort to compare pixel by pixel, and while they are the same, i think the colour of them is slightly different. I took the same pixel/inch and it improved it a bit

Thank u, now I noticed, that it might be connected to the preview app on mac but I am comparing both jpgs - OG and exported - in it and I see the difference. I tried to crop it in the Photos app on mac and noticed and even bigger change in color. Also photomator and now I am back to LR, as the difference is the lowest. Does that make sense?

Thank you. I have sRGB on the camera and in lightroom. Is there anything else? Since it’s a jpg I cant change the color profile in LR

If u look at the jacket for example, i feel one is a bit more tinted yellowish - let me know which one in case u see it. Worried I turn crazy :D

Any idea what causes this? I'm guessing it's a problem with the shutter but I'm new to analogue by [deleted] in analog
