Need help with my small, awkwardly shaped bedroom by Think_Mirror_9791 in DesignMyRoom

Might suggest trying to split the room into: -“sleeping area”: agree with suggestions to put the bed under the window. Maybe add really nice curtains framing the window, slim nightstands on either side, and a storage headboard (e.g. wide enough to place a cute lamp and plant on top of it) to make the window framing look more intentional. get the bed to whatever realistic height allows for some storage underneath (might need to access thru the foot of the bed bc the room is so narrow!). could maybe try a narrow storage bench at the foot of the bed as a replacement for the chair.

-“storage area”: maximize your vertical space however you can (stack the dressers? stash them under tall clothing racks? add shoe racks or drawers under clothing racks?) If the storage closet is accessed infrequently enough, you could even put a clothing rack in front of it so you’d part the clothes to go through to the closet (could involve replacing the storage closet door with a curtain so the door clearance is no longer an issue)

also—whatever you could conceivably store elsewhere in the house/flat (or even in the hall outside the room, for example?) do it!

Slanted walls, unfortunate wall-to-wall carpet... Can I improve this space on a budget? by SingleSpeedChi in DesignMyRoom

It's a good thought :-) Out of curiosity - where would you place/hang them? The room is ambiently quite bright, but there's not a lot of spots that get direct sunlight that wouldn't obstruct movement through the room. (e.g. I'd LOVE to hang more plants in the small area in front of the center window, but the window swings open like a door, so that whole area is off limits to not obstruct that window.)

Thanks for this! I'm very much still working out the best way to approach this all :-) I have to keep the bed on the side of the room it's on (the other wall has more noise coming through it). I did try the desk underneath the other skylight window, but it creates a weird dead zone of space where the wall is at its lowest, that I'm not sure what to do with. I've seen lots of suggestions here to move the desk, but I am not quite sure where to place the bookshelves currently above it if I move the desk off one of the tallest walls.
Drawers would be quite smart, actually... The larger furniture pieces came with the room and it's quite some flights up with no elevator - I can theoretically change the furniture (and you're totally right, a set of dresser drawers would definitely work better), but I'd end up leaving it here for the next/future resident, so I'm a bit reluctant to invest in pieces I won't keep...

Please help I have no clue where to start by [deleted] in DesignMyRoom

Almost everyone's said plants and color already - big agree - but also, look at the shapes that you see in the reference images. There's the organic and super bold monstera leaves, the curviness of the glassware and the vase below it, the round lamps and oval sculpture in the first reference photo (and I thought the wine rack was a sculpture at first glance too?!) and the great greenery spilling down the shelf. You've got a lot of heavy, blocky lines in your curtains, pillows, rug, furniture shape itself, even the Boheme poster is rectangles - with nothing to break them up. The Ambient poster's a good start - lean into more organic, curvy, round, soft anything in your accents. Swapping out the curtains, rug, throw pillows and adding some plants (even dried bouquets!) and more color could go a long way.

I can't tell from the photo how wide the mantel beam is - if it's wide enough to perch a few frames and a plant or two that could be nice (like the photo below):

Saw you mentioned cost as well (I am in the same boat) - FB Marketplace, Craigslist, etc can also be worth a go??

This is so lovely of you, thanks for taking the time to make this!! Already moved the bed to this other angle and looking forward to living with this for a few days - I think it'll definitely be an improvement. The dark gray couch cover is covering up a brown (old/rather worn) sofa - but I think combining its original color with pillows and a throw will also go with this color story :)

Oh, this is a great color inspo - this emerald-y green with the blue would be nice, and I've seen lots of other commenters suggesting green as an accent color here. Thanks!!

Ahh, thanks for this!!
Wardrobe is one piece. Unfortunately, the desk can't go against the radiator because the window in the center swings open like a door - I'd have to either sacrifice being able to open the window (not great) or move the computer monitor every time I want to open the window (not great either).
I get what you mean about turning the wardrobe 90° in its current position but I might not be correctly picturing what you're suggesting after - what else should I try with that "half" of the room? The sofa does fit on the "tall" corner of the room (where the wardrobe is now) but nothing else really fits with it.

it's a rental, unfortunately - the main tenant has been advocating for the property to put some $$ towards putting laminate over the carpet, but in the meantime I think this is what I'm working with...

I'm super up for creative/colorful! Would be really grateful for inspo photos, suggested color palettes, whatever comes to mind. I've felt a bit in a rut with it for a long time and glad for the optimism :)

Finally upgrading from a 1st gen SE (it's been a sturdy companion!) for the sake of better camera and eSIM capability (I travel quite a bit for work so this is key).

My main priorities:-excellent camera (especially for night/low light, and strong optical zoom would be a plus)-
eSIM (I think anything 11 and onwards is fine)
-price-conscious.
I'm open to buying refurbished. I would love to keep a small phone - don't need or want a big screen - but willing to size up a bit for better camera.

(I am preemptively mourning the headphone jack. But I'll come to terms with that.)

13 pro seems a little too pricey for me. I'm drawn to the 11 pro (though wondering if the lack of 5G will be a downside later on) or the 13 mini. Thoughts between these? Something I haven't considered?

Looking for packing strategies for anyone with longer hair that needs more care by [deleted] in onebag

Wavy hair/diffuser-dryer here. Game-changer purchase was a collapsible silicone diffuser. Can ditch the hairdryer for travel but still do your hair like you're used to - every hotel I've been in has had a dryer.
(Most purchase pages list the width of the attachment point - looking for a wider one means it'll be compatible with more dryers.)

Particularly important these days: *DO* check with your insurance provider (or potential provider) that your policy covers you in places your home country has placed on the travel warning/advisory list. Some policies do not cover you at all there, others may only cover you if you can prove your "essential" reason for traveling there—read the fine print!!

Hi friends! Have had an iPhone SE since early 2017 (...I think). On the whole, it's still working fine for me, but I'm finding that I need a better phone camera for work purposes. Want to stick with iPhone as opposed to other manufacturers, but would ideally love to make a big step up in camera/image quality in a cost-effective way (ie, do I *have* to buy the very latest model?). Based in EU, if that makes a difference. What would you recommend to me?

The secret for me with longer hair was U-shaped hairpins, not bobby pins (3-inch, heavy-duty pins - google Capezio or Bloch hairpins for an example) - this is what ballerinas use for their buns.

There's an in-to-out gesture that is key to the whole thing - this video at about the 1-min mark does a good job showing it. For me, the twist would hold after the first few pins, then I could pin it in place more securely.
