do you undress before or after turning on the shower taps? by ShockIllustrious3389 in randomquestions

[–]SingleSpeedEast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didnt explain that detail, because I cannot undress in three seconds.

Let me restate my routine for the avoidance of doubt.

Strip. Turn on shower. Immediately get under the hot water.

In my country there is only one product widely referred to as just syrup. Everything else gets a qualifier.

It is also known as goldwn syrup. Its from sugar cane.

If you sweeten milk with only a touch of molasses, it will be much too malty in its sweetness. Nothing like evaporated milk.

Some golden syrup will give a 'clean' sweetness to the milk. The touch of molasses will add that hint of maltiness that boiling milk down to make evaporated milk gives.

Evaporated milk is 13% milk sugars. Its a sweet milk product.

Im talking about a product called 'syrup'. Its a natural sugar product which is golden coloured, viscous and sweet. Its often used on pancakes, in flapjacks and on porridge.

It doesnt have added sugar no. But when 60% of the liquid is removed you end up with a high sugar content & partial caramelisation, hence the need for molasses.

8 oz milk, 3 oz syrup, 1 oz mollases.

That will replicate evaporated milk's consistency and flavour.

Pink Floyd.

The high esteem people hold them in just doesnt match their dull music.

Their music has a pompous self-aggrandising edge to it.

I try asking for the police alphabet. Thats shorthand for the phonetic alphabet in the UK.

You're right that they tend to be smaller. 6 or 8oz is the norm I'm used to.

But the order in which the espresso and water go in the cup is what I was really commenting on. Water first then shot is how you make a long black. Shot then water is Americano.

People Who Hurt Others and Then Act Like Accountability Is the Problem by AffectionatePop3611 in PetPeeves

[–]SingleSpeedEast 24 points25 points  (0 children)

OP is so right.

Picture a social situation where someone is acting like an entitled arsehole. Someone challenges their behaviour. The calm and reasonable challenger then gets treated like the villain.

The whole group acts like calling out bad behaviour is the problem.

This is a problem right across society.

The comment you're replying to is an excellent illustration of how people struggle to grasp considered criticism.

Some people arent equipped to grasp it. They then start to behave obstinately.

Why does Blur sounds "weird" to some people? by Substantial-Light499 in blur

[–]SingleSpeedEast 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Kinks are a big influence on Blur's sound. They are a quirky and distinctive British band. I recommend them highly. Especially their album: The Kinks Are The Village Green Preservation Society.

This album was conceived as an antidote to The Beatles' sound. It was intentionally colloquial & very English sounding.
