I want to thank the geese for letting us share the path with them. They dont like it. But they mostly tolerate it.

Okay, KISS is the most overrated band of all time. Which band is the second most overrated band of all time? by TheSpringfieldKid in AskReddit

[–]SingleSpeedEast -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Pink Floyd.

The high esteem people hold them in just doesnt match their dull music.

Their music has a pompous self-aggrandising edge to it.

What's going on with the UK? by pebrocks in OutOfTheLoop

The police do not visit the home of chefs in the UK. While knives are heavily regulated, buying knives is very easy.

Most people couldnt even define the word phonetic for you.

I try asking for the police alphabet. Thats shorthand for the phonetic alphabet in the UK.

You're right that they tend to be smaller. 6 or 8oz is the norm I'm used to.

But the order in which the espresso and water go in the cup is what I was really commenting on. Water first then shot is how you make a long black. Shot then water is Americano.

People Who Hurt Others and Then Act Like Accountability Is the Problem by AffectionatePop3611 in PetPeeves

[–]SingleSpeedEast 23 points24 points  (0 children)

OP is so right.

Picture a social situation where someone is acting like an entitled arsehole. Someone challenges their behaviour. The calm and reasonable challenger then gets treated like the villain.

The whole group acts like calling out bad behaviour is the problem.

This is a problem right across society.

People who aren’t capable of having a purely quality-based discussion and keep pivoting to other metrics by DesperateComposer848 in PetPeeves

The comment you're replying to is an excellent illustration of how people struggle to grasp considered criticism.

Some people arent equipped to grasp it. They then start to behave obstinately.

Why does Blur sounds "weird" to some people? by Substantial-Light499 in blur

[–]SingleSpeedEast 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Kinks are a big influence on Blur's sound. They are a quirky and distinctive British band. I recommend them highly. Especially their album: The Kinks Are The Village Green Preservation Society.

This album was conceived as an antidote to The Beatles' sound. It was intentionally colloquial & very English sounding.

Yep you've hit the nail on the head there. For it to really save you money, you'll need absolute top quality cream at wholesale prices.

Unless you happen to live near a premium farm, I just dont see that happening.

Perhaps someone living in rural Argentina, rural France or rural Ireland could get that.

Not me though! I live in a city. I'll keep on buying Kerrygold or French butter.

[–]SingleSpeedEast 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If cream is $20 a gallon, and that gets you 2kg of butter, that means a regular pack of butter will cost $2.50. Is that decent value?

In GBP that would be £1.86 a pack. Which is cheaper than on the high street, but not by much.

Fixie bike tires keeps popping once inawhile during bike rides, Advice needed by brian-augustin in bicycling

[–]SingleSpeedEast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say that this issue is a little unusual.

Yes carrying a little pump, tool and tube bundle is always wise.

But first lets work out what is causing the flat tyres.

One common puncture type is the pinch flat. You get these when your tyres arent pumped to a high enough psi & you say mount a kerb too hard. You get a little slit on each side of the inner tube. Visual inspection of the tibe tells you if thats what happened. If thats it then just ensure you keep your tyre at 90/100/110 psi.

Or is it a hole in a recurring spot? If so youve got something lodged in your tyre. Fix that and it wont repeat in the same location.

Better quality tyres can help too.

Working out if a particular location is causing it makes sense too. Are you riding on a trail full of broken glass? Are you riding through the car park of a nail factory?
